I have not had a Green thumb in the past. Every year I get a little better. Super excited about how the garden is doing this year. I think it's my "little garden assistant" that has made a difference. She sure does love playing in the dirt!

Our first calf of the year. He was born last week. His name is "Porter". He will be our feeder steer in 2 years.

We have an Ameraucana rooster that was a surprise for us. Out of our last batch of chicks we kept noticing that this chicken's feathers were getting long. Then we realized we had a sneaky boy in the batch. We are undecided if he will stay on the farm long-term, but for now he sure is fun to watch.

Our ladies have been on strike for a couple of months. It sure feels good to be back in the egg producing business.

I am late to post on this but wanted to share my favorite time of the year for me. Annual Apple Butter and BBQ weekend. This is a tradition that started with my grandparents over 60 years ago. The night before we peel, core, and slice the apples, around 120 pounds. The next morning, very early we start a fire and put all the apples in a solid copper kettle. It is constantly stirred by hand for multiple hours over the fire. All the while my husband fills his BBQ pit with all kinds of goodness for us to eat. When the apple butter is done we can it all, 123 jars worth! After all the hard work we make biscuits and taste test our product from the kettle. It is a wonderful time visiting with family and continuing on a family tradition. My Grandma from Indiana, who started this tradition, came down this year to help. This was such a huge deal for us to have her here this year! Thank you to everyone that came out!

Our Niece and Nephews came in for the weekend. It was great weather to be outside. We enjoyed watching all the kids play on the hay and there creativity run wild! Nothing better than a good old fashioned hay fort.

What a beautiful evening.
