Lambing has began! At 5 am Lizzie had a set of twin rams. It was chilly this morning, so it took a bit of work from mama and the shepherd to keep them warm and dry. The boys are finding their legs and doing well. Let's hope this is a solid start to a success lambing season!

Very sad to hear this announcement, but wishing Jon, April and their family a successful transition. For those of you who have purchased my Shetland combed top in the past, this closure means I will no longer have combed top after my inventory sells out.

A Message from Zeilinger Wool Company

For almost 115 years, we have been privileged and grateful to serve the fiber community.

The fiber industry has been a part of our family’s lives for so many generations that in fact, all of you feel like family. Our passion for this business has brought us many connections and experiences we cherish.

With deep sincere thanks for welcoming us into your lives, Zeilinger Wool Company announces we are no longer operating as a fiber processor.

To close our doors has been a difficult, heavy-hearted decision made with many alternative avenues explored. The best answer as a small business owner and for our family is to look to future endeavors and life paths while keeping the fiber community’s valued relationship.

For our respected and loyal clients, we are glad to announce Jon Zeilinger will continue to serve the fiber industry in a new capacity as Sales Engineer for Crescent Woolen Mills.

Crescent Woolen Mills located in Two Rivers, WI has an extensive generational commitment to the textile industry and is excited to welcome Jon Zeilinger with his level of skill and expertise. A commitment to processing the remainder of current Zeilinger Wool Co. customer and client fiber orders will be fulfilled by Crescent Woolen Mills.

The Zeilinger family appreciates, loves and respects the people of the North America fiber industry that provided us with lifetimes of laughter, hard work and wonderful shared memories we will treasure always.

Thank you for your business.
Jon and April Zeilinger

Two more day before you can find me at the Shepherd's Market Festival in Iowa City. I'm really excited about the naturally dyed rovings I'm bringing. I don't have many, as I'm still working to process new fleeces, so get them early. I'll also have some fresh Shetland combed top and more. Hope to see you there on Saturday at the Johnson County fairgrounds.

Last March, I made a significant step toward building my fiber business. Attending Fiberpalooza was the first time I sold others the wool I had grown on our farm. Vending at this show was significant because Fiberpalooza was the first fiber show I’d attended as a consumer and now the first as a vendor.

Two things I love about fiber shows are building community and talking about our sheep. A new thing to love is merchandising! The second photo is of my booth at Fiberpalooza last year, and the first is of my current project. I am working on building wooden crates to show off our dyed roving. However, I had to challenge myself to make them collapsible so they are easier to transport to show. Watch for these new crates at one of my upcoming spring shows.

Have you ever had a project in which you both needed time out from each other? Well, that’s my . It started as a sweater for my husband, but after spinning the contrast yarn and steeking, it didn’t fit! Ugh, even the sleeves are too tight. That was last year; it might be time to bring it back out and modify it. The sleeves will just need to be frogged and reknit. I am still unsure how to fix the body. What has worked for you in this case?
