In the heart of 19th-century Cincinnati, Edmund Dexter built a reputation that traveled far beyond the Ohio River.

Dexter became known not only for his spirits, but also for his remarkable hospitality. Historical accounts tell of Charles Dickens visiting him in 1842 and Albert Edward, Prince of Wales and future King Edward VII, visiting in 1860. We can only imagine what it was like to be welcomed by Edmund Dexter. The conversations. The company. And, of course, what a celebrated wh***ey merchant chose to pour for his guests.

The grand Fourth Street mansion that later became the Dexter family home no longer stands, but we like to imagine its parlor looking something like this, with the recognition earned by Dexter’s spirits proudly displayed on the walls.

Today, those awards belong to Dexter Three Wood Bourbon, but the idea behind them feels remarkably fitting. 96 Points. Double Gold. And more. Celebrated by experts and available to everyone.

Cheers to National Wh***ey Sour Day with an elevated relative of the classic: the Wh***ey Daisy.

In 1862, Jerry Thomas documented the Sour in his Bar-Tender’s Guide, one of the foundational books of American cocktail culture. By the expanded 1876 edition, the Wh***ey Daisy had joined its pages, building on that timeless balance of wh***ey, citrus, and sweetness.

Our take on Jerry Thomas’s Wh***ey Daisy transports the recipe to today, bringing the subtle flavors of our Dexter Three Wood Bourbon to light through the combination of fresh lemon, pineapple, orgeat, simple syrup, and grenadine.
