Today, R. J. Corman was proud to join the Tennessee Central Railway Museum and River Cities Transit Authority (RTA) at Riverfront Station in Nashville to promote rail safety as part of Operation Lifesaver's See Tracks? Think Train® Week.

Visitors had the opportunity to learn more about railroad crossing safety, trespass prevention, and the importance of staying alert around tracks and trains. The event featured Operation Lifesaver educational materials and the Tennessee Central Railway Museum's specially painted rail safety caboose, which carries an important reminder:

Always Expect a Train.

Whether you're driving, walking, or biking, making safe choices around railroad tracks helps protect everyone.

Thank you to our partners and the volunteers who helped share this important message with the community.

See Tracks? Think Train.

R. J. Corman employees and local partners recently took rail safety education directly into the Lebanon, Tennessee, community as part of Operation Clear Track 2026 during “See Tracks? Think Train” Week.

Teams visited six railroad crossings along the NERR Line to distribute rail safety materials and speak with motorists and pedestrians about staying safe around tracks. They reminded the public to stay alert, obey warning signs and signals, never drive around lowered gates, stay off railroad property, and always expect a train.

“Operation Clear Track demonstrates what can be accomplished when railroad employees, police officers, and local agencies work together to educate the communities we serve,” said Chief Andy Midkiff of the R. J. Corman Railroad Police Department. “Building greater awareness of crossing safety and trespass prevention is an important part of helping people make safe decisions around tracks and trains.”

Thank you to Tennessee Operation Lifesaver, the Lebanon Police Department, and all of the R. J. Corman team members who helped make the event possible.

Rail safety reminders: “See tracks? Think train.” Stay off railroad tracks, bridges, and railroad property; never use tracks for photos or videos; obey warning signs and signals; and always expect a train.

After Hurricane Helene caused extensive damage to Norfolk Southern's rail line between Old Fort and Black Mountain, North Carolina, R. J. Corman Railroad Services was selected to help restore the corridor and return this critical route to service.

Over the course of the project, our crews rebuilt damaged roadbed, repaired washouts, stabilized mountainsides, and restored approximately 14 miles of track through some of the most challenging terrain in the Southeast. The effort became one of the largest projects in our company's history and was completed with no recordable project-related injuries.

In April 2026, the first revenue freight train successfully operated over the restored line, marking an important milestone in the recovery of Western North Carolina's rail infrastructure.

Earlier this month, R. J. Corman participated in Wilmore's Salute To Service, a community event celebrating America’s 250th birthday, Wilmore’s 150th anniversary, and the 35th anniversary of the Thomson-Hood Veterans Center while honoring veterans from across Central Kentucky.

As part of the event, our team made and served homemade ice cream using a recipe from the mother of company Founder Rick Corman and Board of Trustees member Sandy Adams, a well-known favorite among employees.

Following the celebration, R. J. Corman was presented with a commemorative plaque by the City of Wilmore. The display features an America250 Betsy Ross Edition flag, created to celebrate the America250 initiative and 250 years of American independence. With its unique design, which incorporates “250” into the stars, the flag serves as a meaningful symbol of our nation’s history and heritage.

It also includes a certificate of authenticity and commemorative coins recognizing these important milestones.

We are grateful to the City of Wilmore, Kentucky for this thoughtful recognition and appreciate the continued partnership we share.
