We took our lambs off pasture last week, we’re really happy with how they’ve developed this year! They love being on pasture but we haven’t had any significant rain since early June and the pasture is pretty dry. They love the freshly cut alfalfa hay and seem pretty content in the shady barn.

It’s been a busy lambing season but the long days paid off with some pretty nice looking lambs!

I loaded these ladies this morning at 6:00. Even though it was still dark and they have never seen a trailer, they were all in and ready for their 5 hour drive in less than 5 minutes! I knew they went to a good home when I saw that not only does their new owner breed Bluefaced Leicester, but he also breeds Pugs!

Meet Atlas, (Alfie got to name him on the way home.) one of our new rams for this fall breeding ! He’s a purebred Polypay from my friend Bob Smith. Bob has been raising Polypay sheep for many years. I have shorn several of Bob’s rams at farms around southern Minnesota. I’m pretty confident Atlas will throw some great lambs next spring when paired with our Bluefaced Leicester ewes!
