It's been a great summer, but Fall is coming!
Ducks require 14-16 hours of daylight for optimal egg laying, and our days are growing short 🌤️
Fall is an optimal time for feather regrowth to ensure they have a good down and waterproof pin feathers for the winter 🪶
And the girls are overall starting to conserve energy for the colder weather.
With all of that our egg laying season is about over. There may be a few more dozen at The Scale House Market throughout the month, but then eggs will be out of season until next spring.
Part of buying local is buying seasonal! While large scale operations use heat lamps an artificial light to stimulate fall and winter egg laying, we respect our birds natural laying cycle ♥️
Get your eggs before the season ends, we will post restocks as they are available.
