Happy Friday my friends!

Am I the only one who noticed it was a little more crisp outside this morning? Fall weather is on the way! I'm so excited! Cozy suppers are coming!

I started the day doing math, which is absolutely the rudest way to wake yourself up-in case you wondered.

We are SO close to getting through the financial mess August created. I knew it was close but also knew we still have a gap. But I finally sat down this morning and figured out exactly what that gap looks like.

$6,200.

That’s what I need to bring in by the 1st to get everything where it needs to be.

My first thought was….well shoot, that's more than I thought.
Then I did a little more math.
35 orders.
That $6,200 is roughly 35 normal orders. That's it! I can do that!

So that’s my goal for today and tomorrow.

If you’ve been waiting to order from the October menu….I would love and genuinely appreciate if you could do it this weekend.

AND I’m getting a bunch of classes posted today too, so there will be plenty of ways to help me chip away at that 35.

I just thought I’d lean into the transparency and tell you exactly where we are and exactly what would get us there.

After the last month, being able to start September caught up would be HUGE.
Not ahead.
Not magically recovered from everything.
Just caught up and back to center.
Caught up sounds pretty damn good.
I'm honestly just exhausted.

So I’m starting at 35.
And I’m intentionally not going to worry.
We’ve done bigger things in less time before.

The food is good. Really good. And fall is coming whether we’re ready for it or not.

Let me put dinner in your freezer. Let me make those first busy weeks of school and sports and earlier sunsets a little easier. Let me take one thing off your list, dinner isn’t another problem you have to solve. You get to slide into fall with a stocked freezer and one less thing to think about.

And every order gives me the opportunity to step forward too….to put August behind us, keep my kitchen moving and keep doing the thing I love most.

I get to keep cooking for you.

You get to not cook AND more family time!

Seems like a pretty good arrangement to me.

Hygge.

It’s a Danish word that doesn’t have a perfect English translation….but it’s the feeling of warmth, comfort and contentment that comes from slowing down and enjoying the simple things.

A warm kitchen.
Good food simmering on the stove.
Fresh bread.
People you like gathered around the table.
Laughing until your face hurts.

Basically….everything I want this night to feel like. 🧡

Hygge & Homey: A Soup Class is back! My favorite one!

September is that funny little space between seasons. The long warm nights of summer are winding down, the evenings start getting crisp, and suddenly soup for dinner sounds REALLY good again.

So on September 19th, we’re filling the kitchen at Nine Mile with soup, homemade bread, good food and probably a ridiculous number of inside jokes.

And you’re going home READY for fall.

Together we’ll make FIVE extra large, family sized soup kits to take home. These are Martha sized soups….hearty enough for family dinner with leftovers, or perfect for feeding a table full of people you love.

And while we work, you’ll get to taste your way through the soups we’re making, alongside homemade bread, a crisp Harvest salad and, obviously….dessert.

But this time I wanted you to leave with more than soup.

Everyone also goes home with:

🍲 A brand new stock pot….and not some tiny little thing. A proper Martha sized soup pot!

Yesterday I was at an event and someone asked me how the Lasagna Lottery was going. I realized….I actually had no idea. 😂 I shared that Friday there were still a handful of free lasagnas left, but the weekend had been pretty busy and I hadn’t taken the time to sit down and tally everything up again.

I told her I was pretty sure once I did, they’d all be gone.

Well….

I was right.

The Lasagna Lottery is officially SOLD OUT! All 100 free lasagnas have homes. 🧡

But while I was figuring that out, I realized something else….

September is sold out too!

September.

The month that doesn’t even START for another 7 days! 😂

So we’re moving on to October!

I spent some time last night updating the menu and I am so excited! This is my absolute FAVORITE time of year to cook. Fall food is just superior in every way.

It’s warm and cozy and hearty. It’s casseroles coming out of the oven and something cooking in the crock pot all day. It’s soup and bread for dinner. It’s coming home when it’s already getting dark outside and knowing dinner is waiting.

So that’s October.
Cozy fall classics.

The kind of food I actually want to eat when the mornings get chilly and life gets busy again. The stuff the fills your belly and warms your bones and feels like a great big bear hug.

I’ve also added a Crock Pot Stock Up because back to school season and crock pot season arriving at exactly the same time is not a coincidence.

We are open 1-3 at our BLVD location today for pre order pick ups!

We are completely sold out on all grab and go today!!

The majority of our team is deep in a catering event today! There are at least a few dozen plates spinning on my stage today!
If I've missed connecting with you over a recent order or have flubbed an arrangement in the hustle I apologize!!
I have a long list of "clean up deliveries" I'm tackling tomorrow!

The last several weeks I've noticed a shift in traffic to our page and random anomalies that keep happening. Like the inability to post a link, or to see who's shared a post. This actually leads to some interesting problems.
People comment and ask questions on the posts that people share but I never see them.
Or I want to "link the special" in the comments and it just won't connect no matter what I do.
Did you know a few years ago Facebook made a change where if you linked something in the body of a post it would suppress the post all together? They did! So then you had to say things like "check the comments for a link to order" to get around the blocks.
Now this morning THIS notification popped up when I was trying to post a link to the menu again. So now, if you don't PAY you can't post links. Ok. I wonder what weird work around we'll come up with for this one! Facebook really is an ever changing beast. It certainly wasn't on my list of things to worry about in running a business but at the end of the day I manage this more than I cook!

All this to say- if you haven't seen a post from me in a minute. This might be why. Interaction is key! Like a few posts, it will put us back up in your algorithm and be sure you're following for the best chance at seeing updates and fun things we've got going on, and of course you want to know when I've got free lasagna!
