This year, I'm incorporating a mandatory tea time in the garden. Learning to rest and enjoy the work of my hand is something I’ve never really done. This Spring I'm going to make that change, 30 min to an hour everyday!! Today, I'm sipping on some Chia tea!
What do you do to help you unwind and rest?

Working in the garden and playing with the chicks. Wonderful way to spend our Friday afternoon! JD is building 6 more raised beds in the garden this year. Super excited about all the growth happening this year!
May the Lord bless the work of our hands. 😊

It's been a while, but I thought I would give you an update on the happenings in our little world. I've been mostly off social media since the beginning of the year, and let me tell you, it's so refreshing. I understand some people's stance for needing to be on here for work or stay up to date on current events around the world. For me, I've just felt the need to step away and focus more intentionally on the people within arm’s reach; family, friends, neighbors, etc.
Also, I have been staying busy with another project that I am working on. Over the years, I have had many people ask me to write a book about our lives. Our simple, quiet, close-knit family and how we did it. How we homeschooled, homestead, and live a homemade life serving and loving our family and community. This request always intimidated me, because I write journal style. Never long chapters, but just as topics come to mind, I write. Well, my daughter, being her awesome self, came up with a way to ensure I wrote. She created the most beautiful birthday present for me. She put together an entire outline for me. She wrote the forward and had many ladies who have been in my life for 30+ years, as well as more recent years, write short messages. She put together topics as well as inserted ideas from past social media posts to help. She organized each chapter and broke it down into categories. Then told me people need to hear what I have to say. The way she beautifully crafted it together was so thoughtful, but the fact that she believed in me enough to put this all together was humbling. I will say she believes in me way more than I do. haha
Every time I think I can't do this, I am reminded I can, and I will! So know this, friends, I may not be writing as much on social media, but it is because I am putting my extra time towards writing this book! I'm not sure what I'm going to call it yet, but I am always looking for ideas. So if you have any, post them in the comments!

Our family only gets sick about once a year anymore. When they were babies we got stomach bugs and colds often, but today it's far more rare.
When it does happen, I know it's time to restock bone broths, fire cider, ferments, cut sugar even more, up our raw milk intake, and add in more organ meats to our food supply. Almost inevitably we can beat out the rest of the season's yuck that comes. Yesterday, I canned up 14 quarts of beef bone broth, and today I will can up about the same of chicken bone broth.
1 gallon of firecider is bottled up. 34 quarts of sourkraut will be ready in a couple weeks! Organ meats are dehydrated and ready to encapsulate.
Momma, don't play! 🤣

I'm just going to say I'm strange. 😂
Most people would hate my floors. I’ve always loved tulip poplar, and JD has been making projects for me out of it for years. When we decided to make our floors, this is the wood I wanted. Even though it is a softer wood and will scratch easily, it’s stunning. The fact that it scratches didn't bother me like it does most.
My home shows a life well lived, with lots of laughter, love, joy, and even tears. Our home is always full of people—family and friends—stories told, and hearts laid bare.
The scratches on my wood floor remind me of wrinkles. Wrinkles don't bother me unlike a lot of people these days. I want my home and my life to show it all. A life well lived.
The struggles as well as the good times. Smiles and tears alike. I live my life wide open for everyone to see. Scratches, scars, smiles, laughter, joy, failure, triumph, and the redeeming love of a savior! ❤️

Getting ready to begin planting Fall crops. Question, what's the oldest seed you have planted? I've got a pack of seeds I would like to try and plant the seeds are 10years old. They have been kept in a cool dark place. What are the odds they will grow?
I don't really have the space to gamble much! Lol
