The walkway is officially gone! 😂🤣
This time of year, the garden is overwhelming. It’s beautiful and abundant, with dying back and weeds taking over. It’s a whole lot.
The garden is my constant reminder that winter is coming. I prepare and stock back, my mind is constantly in overdrive at the work that needs to be completed. Some days, if I were honest, it is all-consuming and exhausting. My house is a wreck, and there are tomatoes and corn on my cabinets. J.D. is constantly reminding me to show myself grace and remember this is just a season.
So thankful for this life, even when it seems I’m drowning.
Come January, when we are sitting, all the work is done, the house is clean, and we are enjoying the fruits of our labor, it is all worth it! 🥰

I'm a type A- or B+. Not fully A or B. 🤣 My garden is a living example of my brain. Wild, free, abundant, straight with some curve. 😂🤷‍♀️
Thank you, Lord, for the opportunity to work by the sweat of my brow. Today the sweat was rollin’ by 7:00am!
Friends, if you garden wild and free, straight lines, raised beds, in the ground, miles of land, or 1 tiny plot. Well done! I have friends who garden in all kinds of ways, and it always thrills my heart to just see them growing! What Joy!!! 🙌

Small garden tip, especially if you garden in the raised beds and have a lot of them.
When your garden is bursting at the seams, and you can't find all your plants, have a map drawn out so you can easily find them!
I wanted to make cowboy candy today, and I couldn't remember where all my jalapeno plants were, so I pulled out our maps and found them!
I'm not the artist here; Kaitlyn was. When she was at the end of her pregnancy during planting season, and she needed a rest, she would stop and draw out our maps for us. It's super helpful!

Life is super busy right now on the farm. The chickens are working hard, and we are working hard. Canning has kicked into high gear! Kaitlyn and I canned 22 quarts of beans yesterday, made squash relish for the first time, fermented pickles, prepped a bunch of pesto for the freezer, and, of course, Granny snuck in some snuggles!
In between all this, I've been able to continue working on my quilt. Currently working on the last flower before I start putting the rows together! 🥰

The garden has changed quite a bit in the last month or so. Both of the top pictures were taken around the 1st of May. The bottom pictures were taken today!
The generational family garden is coming along beautifully!! 🥰 Finishing this garden is the goal before the Fall.
Over winter we will begin Granny and Poppy’s kitchen garden out back and prayerfully the food forest will begin next year also! 🙌

This year, I'm incorporating a mandatory tea time in the garden. Learning to rest and enjoy the work of my hand is something I’ve never really done. This Spring I'm going to make that change, 30 min to an hour everyday!! Today, I'm sipping on some Chia tea!
What do you do to help you unwind and rest?
