Our chickens are starting to lay again! It’s been a while since I posted.
This year we plan on growing more veggies!
Since the pigs are gone. More of our energy will go into growing.
We took a break this year from maple syrup. We felt the trees needed a break. We also needed a break!
Our cow manure and chicken manure will serve us well this year. We are not certified organic. But use organic practices.

We will have some beef for sale soon. Keep a look out. Here’s the cost breakdown if your curious why it costs so much
Steer calf original cost 600
15 months of hay 15 in pasture =2700 @6$bale
Vet bills 200
Electricity and water 200
Housing/shelter shavings- 800
Butcher bill. 900
I’m being low on there too
Total is
5400
Hanging weight is around 500-550
So the cost without mark up would be
10.80. No profit per lb
So I have to sell it for at least 12 per lb
And hanging weight doesn’t include bones
These will be all boneless cuts. As well
USDA rules have to be under 30 months we missed it by a month.
It’s hard to get dates sometimes. Also another issue we deal with
I haven’t added any labor to the cost. Which would take it north of 20 per lb.

New year, new adventure for you! We are calling on any willing and able community members to join our department (or your local department if you live in another town).

The volunteer fire service needs people badly. Nobleboro Fire and Rescue responds to 150-200 calls for service every year, helping residents in need with everything from emergency medical services to house fires (and literally everything in between). This is an opportunity to give back to your community and help others.

No experience necessary, training and equipment provided and you do earn a stipend for training and calls. We are currently planning to begin a Basic Fire course in the next two months, so now is a perfect time to join.

We also have opportunities for people to put their CDLs to use if you are not interested in becoming an interior firefighter.

There are only a few requirements: be able to pass a basic physical, background check and be willing to become part of a great team. We don’t expect every member to make it to every call - with multiple people workng in most households we understand that isn’t possible. What we aim to achieve is enough trained members so that we always have a ready group at all times of the day.

We train every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 8:30, so if you want to stop by to see what we do, feel free to pop in. You can also message us here or call Chief Bradbury at 207-389-3548 for more information.
