Hey folks - Please return your cartons!
As someone with selective OCD, I love seeing all our eggs in plastic cartons. The vibrant colors, unique textures, and various sizes are intriguing to me. But on a practical note, these cartons are washable, reusable, and recyclable when they break.
The downside, they cost a pretty penny to purchase when we run low. We buy 100 chicken egg cartons at a time and lately, we have had to buy a 100 pack almost every other month. This is unusual. Typically a pack can last us close to a year!
Of course, we could switch to donated paper or styrofoam cartons. It would save money and get the job done. And that may be what we will have to do if this becomes a pattern. I would prefer not because to me, they take away from the farm to table feel, gorgeous appearance, and we’d be advertising someone else’s eggs. It’s not the route we’re willing to take yet.
So for now, we’re asking you to PLEASE return your cartons during your next pickup, or kindly leave in the cooler or next to it anytime from 10am-8pm Thursday-Sunday.
Thank you for supporting your local egg dealer🫶🏼
