🍂 OFF-SEASON HOURS UPDATE 🍂

The Old Virginia Ham Shop will remain OPEN from 10-3 ON FRIDAYS ONLY through September.

We truly appreciate your continued support, patience, and understanding during our off season. We realize our limited hours may not always be convenient, and we sincerely appreciate our customers patronage!

We always navigate the summer months without air conditioning in our warehouse so modified hours are a necessity. Then the oh-so FUN perk of operating a business in Norfolk, like last week, when literally half of our shop was under water—but we will continue to do everything we can to keep serving our wonderful customers!

Our regular business hours will resume October 1 as we head into our favorite (and busiest!) time of year.

Thank you for continuing to support our small business through every season. We’re incredibly grateful for you and look forward to seeing you this fall!

The Old Virginia Ham Shop will miss you dearly, Joe. You were our number one customer, and we are profoundly grateful for the decades of unwavering support, loyalty, and friendship you gave us. It was truly an honor to serve you. Your kindness and encouragement will never be forgotten, and your memory will always hold a special place in our hearts. Norfolk won’t be the same without you, Joe. 🙏🏼💛

Norfolk Academy mourns the passing of The Honorable Joseph Price Massey '69, a devoted alumnus and steadfast supporter of NA and the Hampton Roads community.

Judge Massey’s connection to NA spanned a lifetime. The son of former Headmaster James B. Massey Jr. and Helen Thomas Collings Massey, he quite literally grew up on our campus (both on Newport Avenue and Wesleyan Drive) before graduating in 1969. He remained deeply devoted to the school as the proud father of two Academy graduates and the loving grandfather of three, including two current Bulldogs.

He served as a law clerk and trial lawyer before Virginia's General Assembly chose him to take over at the Norfolk Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court in 1997. He served as a judge there for 20 years. Among his many community commitments, he served on Boards of Directors at Edmarc Hospice for Children; the Norfolk Forum; the Rotary Club of Norfolk; and the Industrial Development Authority for the City of Norfolk. Both he and his late wife Alice Ashley Craddock Massey also served as Sunday School teachers.

A man of deep integrity, Judge Massey will be remembered for his many professional accomplishments, but also for his generosity, intellect, humor, and unwavering commitment to his family, his community, and Norfolk Academy.

Honoring the fallen and their loved ones 🇺🇸

Memorial Day is a great day to enjoy time with friends and family, but the holiday has a deeper meaning. On this day, we take a moment to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.
