This summer, we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of one of wine’s greatest plot twists: the 1976 Judgement of Paris. A single blind tasting turned expectations upside down, proving that reputation doesn’t always predict what’s in the glass—and that great wine can come from anywhere.

Our three-part series playfully revisits that spirit of discovery—bringing the Old World and New World head-to-head once again. No passports required—just your palate, your curiosity, and perhaps a touch of humility.

Why join? Because blind tasting is the great equalizer. Labels disappear, preconceptions fade, and what remains is pure sensory experience. This series isn’t about “getting it right”—it’s about discovery, conversation, and maybe a few delightful misjudgments along the way. After all, even the experts in 1976 didn’t see it coming.

Earlier this week, Crystal & Maggie attended the Virginia Wine Trade Intensive. A full-day immersive experience showcasing the people, places, and perspectives of this emerging wine region.

🍷The day kicked off with a grand tasting aka: Judgement at the Jefferson featuring 5 rounds of blind tastings moderated by Master of Wine Jay Youmans.

🍷Crystal was a panelist on the Pour with Purpose breakout session with Master Somm Robert Jones, Swati Bose from Flight Wine Shop, and Antoinette Landragin from Cork & Fork Wine merchants. This session offered insights on how to effectively showcase Virginia wines on BTG & wine flight programs.

🍷It was a great day connecting and learning with new and old Virginia wine friends.

🍷A big thank you to Annette, Susan, Anna, Desiree, Elizabeth and the entire team in the Virginia Wine Marketing office. Kudos!
