Got to spend an evening with .dowdy and 22 of our new best friends at examining art and then drinking about it. Nyree is the curator behind the exhibition of Beyond the Mountains - a collection of photos that began as a documentation of Port au Prince nightlife, and wound up photographing the fall of the Duvalier regime (with special guest, the CIA!).
Guests got a guided tour of this collection from Nyree, and then I had the privilege of making a cocktail inspired by the installation, with the hopes of tying sense memory to the impact of art.

2 oz Rhum Barbencourt 8
3/4 oz clarified mango nectar (fortified with a little sugar)
8 dashes acid phosphate
4 dashes Angostura / Kola bitters blend
Lime ash

On a TBA date in February, we'll be offering our first cocktail class from the new shop - due to limitations with the ABC, it'll have to be virtual BUT I promise it will be no less engaging!
We'll be discussing the history of the Martini, its variations, and how to do it RIGHT (hint: there are many more ways than one)!
Your ticket price will include some goodies to get you started, and access to the live class, where you'll be able to interact with us and the rest of the class, as well as the recording for future use AND some written documentation to refer to.
Where we need your help: what timeframe is best for this? We're leaning towards just after closet on a Friday or Saturday but your answers will shape how we move forward.
Any other class requests are also welcome!

The team took some much needed downtime last night at the end of our first soft-open week, and the end of Cocoa Wars!
Congrats to and for their wins, and thanks to and for being peaceful places to unwind after a busy week.
