Carla Johnson 🌺👒🌼🍄🌷☕️ 🌸 KADIN’S CREEK FARM 405 Alissa Lane Norman Station, Indiana 47264. 812-797-1806. ***A FEW TIPS FOR THE UPCOMING PLANT AND SEED SWAP on Sunday, May 3rd @ 2pm. *SEEDS: can be in original seed packets, sealed envelopes, baggies, home-made seed packets, old pill bottles, etc. Just be sure they’re labeled with the type of seed and what its favorable growing conditions are. *PLANTS: you can bring fresh cuttings, rooted cuttings, or potted plants. Fresh cuttings should be made the day before or morning of the swap. Fresh or rooted cuttings should be wrapped in a wet paper towel, and whoever receives it can place it in water when they get home. A fresh cutting or a rooted cutting should be at least four to six inches long. For fresh cuttings, use a sharp knife or shears to make a clean cut just below a node, where leaves attach to the stem. Remove lower leaves, keeping two or three at the top of the stem. If bringing bulbs, they can be contained in a box or wrapped in newspaper to keep loose dirt to a minimum. Make sure to attach an identifying label with type of plant and growing conditions to each item. ** TIP: Bring along a tub, box, sturdy bag, etc. to carry your swapped plants home in!
*** If you like, dress up in “Garden Party” Vintage Clothing, Hats and lots of Bling! 👒, but if dressing up is not your thing, that’s just fine too!*** My desire is to help everyone get a great start at flower, herb and vegetable gardening this spring, to ask questions and gain gardening wisdom from those who have knowledge to share. I believe it’s prudent to increase our gardening skills due to the food shortages and higher prices happening now. *** DIRECTIONS to Kadin’s Creek Farm. From Bloomington: We are located about 20 minutes south of Paynetown, Monroe Lake. Take 446 to the State Rd. 58 junction and turn left on 58. Go approx. 4 miles to Alissa Lane. Address is 405 Alissa Lane, Norman Indiana. Watch for signs. From Bedford: Take State Road 58 through Heltonville to 446. Cross 446, staying on 58 to Alissa Lane. From Brownstown: Take 50 to Back Creek Road and turn right. Follow Back Creek Road to State Rd. 58 and turn right. Go 1/4 mile to Alissa Lane.

It’s been a busy week of “putting up” and I’m thankful for the harvest out of our little Back To Eden garden this year! Some things were put in the freezer, some things were canned and some eaten fresh! (I put descriptions in the picture comments). In between the canning batches, I’ve been trying out some new recipes with my milled grain flour. All of my experiments have turned out pretty yummy! 🙌🏻😁

Today’s payoff from yesterday’s harvest! Yummy! 😋

The story of Kadin’s Creek

My parents purchased an 80 acre farm in the heart of Southern Indiana way back in 1976. Our homestead became a sanctuary over time, with much hard work and a vision for what the “valley” could become. As we cleared brush, constructed a Shelter House, mini Barn, Log Cabin shoppe and more, we began to see the fruits of our labor paying off. The valley is now a beautiful scenic retreat for not only our family, but for others to enjoy as well! My parents, hubby and I welcome family and visitors to a variety of gatherings and events here on our farm. We have hosted several weddings, family reunions, church gatherings, Bluegrass Festivals, Baby showers, Class reunions and Graduation parties, Birthday parties, etc. over the years. We honor the Lord in everything we do here on our farm. As for me, I have small Business ownership in my genes! Both grandma’s had little shops of their own when I was young, and I always wanted my very own some day. That became a reality for me a few years back when I opened my first little Primitives and Antiques Business...Kadin’s Creek Primitives and was a part of the “Country Neighbors Tour” for about 6 1/2 years. I’ve taken a year break as my hubby and I have built up our farm to include cattle and miniature donkeys. Having the work finished for that, I am coming back to my love of running a small business, but more as a hobby to be enjoyed at this stage of my life! I want to blend sharing the Blessings the Father has given me here on the farm with sharing a variety of amazing finds with my family and friends. From time to time, I will throw in a little visual update through picture and words to share our family life here at Kadin’s Creek Farm. The beauty of this place is something I never grow tired of. I will also be posting regularly, unique and unusual home décor, a few primitive pieces, beautiful and trendy Boutique items, jewelry, bags, accessories, and who knows what else I may surprise y’all with! So, please join me on my new journey and invite your friends to come on over and see what’s happening at Kadin’s Creek Mercantile!
