Before I left to go to my daughter's house, I did a reading of my garden soil. It was wacky readings. I said, well, I’ll deal with it when I get home, so I come home. I take the readings in the garden. Still wacky readings - I'm talking like the pH from 3.4 all the way up to 7.5 within inches of each other. I have a some plants that are dying and some plants that are thriving. I'm like, what is going on? Same thing out in my flower beds - wacky readings, some plants that are thriving, some plants that are dying. What the hell is going on? So I talked to Gemeni, I said, these are my readings, what do I do? It tells me to put lime down, so I spent most of the day yesterday putting lime down. It said to pull back the mulch around the plants, so the lime will soak in the ground, otherwise, it would just sit on the mulch. When I got to my clematis bush, this thing is huge and has tones of flowers on it, and the reading says 3.4 on it, so I asked the freaking app again, if the soil is that bad, how is this bush thriving? I sent it a picture of the bush. It says, yeah, something is definitely wrong. That's not right. That bush is beautiful! Don't put any lime down. WTF 🤬. I had everything done except for the front part of my house and that little area where the Clematis is . So, I start troubleshooting, it asked me all these questions, like maybe it was cold shock putting the plants out there. I said, no, I harden them off for at least two weeks, if not longer. They were all grown in a greenhouse together. They're all in the same soil in the bed. I said, moreover, the flower garden is 90% from last year and they did beautifully. It asked me if I put new compost into the soil. I said, a-ha, I did do that, but wait a minute, I didn't do it to the flower beds. It says, well, that can't be it. I said, the only other thing I did to the entire property was put Nemo toads everywhere on my property. I said, I spent so much money on these nematodes to make sure I had enough to do the entire property. It came back with, that's the problem. Once again, WTF 🤬. I said, nematode did this? I thought they were supposed to be wonderful for the garden? It replies, almost 100% of the time, nematodes are beneficial things for the garden. What happened here is, if you had an abundance of cutworms, beetles, aphids and other critters that are similar like that in the land, and the gardens, the nematodes have sensors that hunt these things out, and they will tunnel to them in masses, and will make pockets around all these bugs. What happens is, it chokes out that area of any oxygen will destroying the bugs, so that it gives a false reading on the meter and deprives the plant of oxygen to live. So, this year is a struggle because my land was overrun with cucumber beetles, cutworms, those little fly beetles, aphids and all kinds of things, and that's why, within inches, I would go from 3.4 to 7.5. It's not that my soil was bad. It's the nematodes were doing their charm, but also killing my plants because, when they would go after these bugs, they would deprive that area of oxygen. Always learning.
