Mother’s Day called for the whole family, so we brought my mom and dad along for dinner at Mezze Bistro+Bar.

One of the perks of having more people at the table is ending up with more food to photograph. And if nothing else, the presentations at Mezze are works of art all on their own.

The reality, though, is that the food backs it up. Everything that came to the table was exceptional. Even the butter noodles we ordered for the toddler felt thoughtfully prepared.

This isn’t really a review account, but if it were, this meal would be a 10/10.

They clear the crumbs from the tablecloth between courses. The service is attentive without feeling stuffy. And, speaking from experience, if you happen to bring a no-nap toddler who starts getting a little restless toward the end of the meal, the grounds are beautiful for a quick post-dinner wander while everyone finishes up.

Some places make dinner feel like an event. Mezze is one of them.

Give Mezze a follow to keep up with their seasonal menus and events. And if you enjoy discovering restaurants, markets, bakers, and makers across Berkshire County, follow Taste of the Berkshires for more local food stories.

Last night we checked out the first pop-up dinner at The Revival House in Adams, and if this opening weekend is any indication, you're going to want to keep this one on your radar.

Chef Xavier Jones, (you know him from Bigg Daddy's Philly Steak House) is running a different small plates menu every weekend throughout June, so no weeks will be exactly the same. We went all in and ordered everything on the menu (a sacrifice we were willing to make for the good of Berkshire County).

The standouts? Honestly, that's the problem—I can't pick. The coconut shrimp disappeared almost immediately, the fried chili glazed ribs were messy in the best possible way, the charcuterie for two was a perfect mix, and those rosemary truffle fries didn't stand a chance. Even the salad had us fighting over bites.

Great food, great company, and a really fun concept.

Friday is delivery breakfast at work.

When On A Roll Cafe & Catering the restaurant of the day, my order is easy: avocado toast with a poached egg. They serve it with everything bagel seasoning, and honestly, that’s all it needs.

By the end of the week, I’m usually barely hanging on. Between working full-time, freelancing social media management, parenting, meal planning, and trying to keep the house functioning, simple starts to feel like a luxury. This is one of those breakfasts that’s easy, reliable, and makes me feel like I’ve made at least one healthy decision before the day gets away from me.

Sometimes that’s enough.

Just in time for Taco Tuesday!

I don’t know about your house, but ours got absolutely wrecked by the plague over the Memorial Day Weekend. I couldn’t even look at food, let alone post about it! Then we were out of town last weekend. So between sickness, travel, and trying to catch up on life, meal planning hasn’t exactly been happening.

Fortunately, lunch delivery exists.

This week’s order came from Yury’s Kitchen, and I went with the carnitas street tacos. They were exactly what I was looking for: flavorful, filling, and a nice break from the ramen in my office closet.

One thing I’ve learned from running this page is that there are a lot of great local spots I probably never would have tried otherwise. Yury’s is definitely one of them.

I’m hoping this week is a return to normal, but if not, there are certainly worse things than working my way through local lunch menus.

Have you tried Yury’s yet? What’s your favorite order?

And if you enjoy discovering local food spots with us, give us a follow and share this post with someone who’s always looking for their next lunch recommendation.

We live in an age where everything feels political and while we do our best to keep that off this page (feel free to follow us personally if you want those thoughts), it’s hard not to at least mention how we feel about ICE. And honestly, the only place we want ice is in our coffee.

That said, Dotties Coffee Lounge has been a long-standing INSTITUTION on North Street and when it went on the market, we really felt the devastating potential of losing a place like that. Loic stepping in breathed fresh life into it in a way only new energy can.

We’d been watching from afar, but after toddler soccer at the YMCA, we finally made our way in and it was exactly what we wanted it to be.

A lavender latte, a chai tea, and a chocolate milk for the little one. A breakfast sandwich and a PB&J. Plus we met a very good dog. Honestly, it was the perfect start to a Saturday.

The vibe inside reminded us of our OG days at Uncommon Grounds Coffee and Bagels — warm, welcoming, lived-in.

We’re not really sure what the future holds for Dottie’s (or for Loic, for that matter), and it’s definitely not our place to predict it, but right now the greatness of this place absolutely endures. And with Jess back at the helm doing the thing that made Dottie’s special in the first place, we’re grateful for it. I’m sure the neighborhood is too.

Especially right now, the world needs places like Dottie’s.

Warm. Welcoming. Free of judgment. Full of hope.

Mom and Dad got a night out! For an art opening, no less! There’s something so special about having a night to ourselves, and getting to celebrate a friend's new art makes it even better. It’s been a few weekends but we attended the opening reception for Material Transformations: Group Exhibition at Mixed Media Space in North Adams (catch it from April 25th - May 23rd if you can!).

Before heading to the exhibition, we made a stop for dinner at Casita Berkshires. I’ve been to Casita before but never actually had a full meal, and honestly? How have I not eaten here sooner? The food was beyond delicious, which I totally expected but WOW! They even offer NA margarita options (yes, please!). I couldn’t resist trying a sip of the Cadillac Margarita, though, and let me tell you—ooooooh, we’re getting tipsy in all the best ways.

We got some guacamole but the ceviche and oysters were sooooo tempting! I got the tacos (I always get tacos), he got the mole. Everything was fresh and delicious. Love the vibe. Love the people. Love the decor. Love the food. Really looking forward to our next visit!

Saturdays are all about the toddler—early mornings for soccer, followed by playgroup with Miss Emilee (unless, of course, there’s no playgroup like the last week of March). When that happens, we switch it up with a visit to a local diner. This time, it was M&J's Taste Of Home on Main Street in Adams.

It was my first time there, and I’m all about diners for kids. There’s so much going on, plenty of distractions to keep little ones entertained. Plus, I’m a sucker for diner coffee—black, no frills, just the way I like it.

We recently discovered on a trip to Providence, RI that the little one LOVES pancakes. We already know she loves pickles so the server at M & J's was nice enough to deliver some pickles along with the pancakes, without even a glint of judgment which, like, thank you! They’re green and a vegetable and she is eating them - we take what we can get. I went for the Breakfast BLT, and we both left happy. The best part? She was so content with her pancakes and pickles that she forgot all about missing playgroup, and we got to enjoy the rest of our day.

Eagle Street Cafe is kind of tucked away on, well, Eagle Street. It doesn’t feel like a hidden gem or anything—there were plenty of people coming in—but I just hadn’t noticed it before. I'm not always the most observant. We were actually heading to Steeple City Social, but the rain had other plans, and Eagle Street Cafe ended up being the quickest and best option from where we were parked. Totally unplanned, but surprisingly good.

I went for the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries, and honestly? One of the best buffalo chicken sandwiches I’ve had in a while. Not sure what it was about it, but it’s definitely going to be my go-to order next time. And because the little one is a total french fry connoisseur, I have to say—those fries? Delicious.

Yes, it is Sunday and thinking about having to go back to work tomorrow sucks. I’m posting this on a Sunday to help you with your meal planning for the week. We've got at least one day of lunches, maybe two depending on your portion preference. If you’re looking for a solid work lunch, Amazing Pho is always a great choice. It’s perfect for a cold day, and honestly, my office was ordering it all winter long. With summer coming up the order is now a Bánh mì and spring rolls.

One thing that stands out? Their branding. You’ll see their logo on everything. Some might say it’s over the top, but as a social media/marketing manager (IRL), I’d call it genius. Every time they get posted, that logo is in the photo, which keeps the restaurant top of mind. Recently, we saw something similar at Noah's Italian
in Saratoga—plates stamped with their logo. It’s a simple thing, but it works.

Is there a better donut in Berkshire County than Shire Donuts? We don’t think so! These are hands down the best donuts around, and they’re a perfect addition to any breakfast, brunch, or even a Tanglewood Music Festival picnic. With Mother’s Day brunches coming up, speaking from personal experience—these donuts can really make the meal! Not only are they the cutest addition to your tablescape, but they’re also the sweetest treat.

Our favorite visit? The annual "Donuts with Santa" event, which benefits childhood cancer organizations. We’ve been going every year since 2021, and we make sure to grab a pic with the best Santa in the county each time.

If you haven’t tried Shire Donuts yet, why? Do you not like donuts?
