BIG NEWS!
It’s finally happening! We have opened our retail space for business. Our genuine old fashioned maple syrup is available for purchase locally at the original Calvin Dean Farmstead. Our hours will be typically 8am to 7pm daily. Sundays 12pm-5pm .
Unfortunately, due to the high volume of home based “farm stand” thefts, we will not be offering “self serve” service. We’re almost always available and we do encourage to let us know when you would like to stop by with simply sending a Facebook message.
We’ll be offering some of the area’s best syrup as well as some other goodies, and even some crafts. Stop by and take a step back in time. Our retail store is housed in a building that Calvin built himself in 1903. A little space with a lot to see! We’ll keep our page updated and adding items as we get rolling and grow. We’d appreciate your business! 7268 N. Bergen Road, Bergen. Cash and Venmo only.

Hey Folks, we’re in the process of bottling up a small batch of Amber. We have made a VERY limited run of pint limited addition cans. Here’s your chance to get some REAL old fashioned maple syrup in a metal can, just like Calvin had in the 1920’s! It has a really cool scene printed on it too! These are $18 each.
PM us to get one of these!

And so it begins.
The long tedious process of bottling the syrup. I say that there’s 2 places high quality syrup is made…at the tree and in the bottle. This is the most critical part of maple syrup making. People always want to offer to help, but this stage is like a ballet. Everyone has to be in sync, and everything has to be done just right. There’s no room for confusion or “ham-fistedness” and no, it’s not like traditional canning….unless you’re canning your syrup. Everything from your finish boil, filtration, bottles being scalded for sanitizing, keeping gallons of syrup at 180 degrees continuously, placing safety seals, to proper cap tightening is all critical and is a “feel” that you develop over time. One step botched could result in burned hands, burned syrup, moldy syrup, or a poor quality-cloudy looking product. In commercial packaging, modern equipment makes it much safer, easier, and faster.
I want my product to have a shelf life of 2 years or more. We want it to look perfect, taste great and have the overall freshness and quality that you’re paying for.
The very first bottle produced in 2021 is a testament to our craft. It still looks as good as it did the day we made it. That’s 5 SEASONS AGO!
Yesterday we produced 60 bottles. A slow go, a long way to go, but it will be worth it.

One way to know for sure of what you are buying…
Shop local. There’s a handful of great maple producers in the WNY region to choose from. It may cost a dollar or two more, but you’re getting exactly what you pay for and the quality you deserve.
