Todays fig harvest. With 18 trees in the ground, only 4 are producing ripe figs. A late Spring freeze knocked all my trees back to the ground. How do I protect an 8' tree from another late Spring freeze this coming year?

We are keeping busy here at the farm making homemade Mayhaw jelly. If you're not from our neighbors to the West you might not be familiar with Mayhaw berries. Its not on the shelf at tour local food store either. This berry grows in the bayou's and not the easiest to harvest but, knowing how good it is and loved by so many we went searching for this berry and brought back enough juice to make this awesome jelly. So let Maxine or me know how many jars you want before they are gone. We won't be able to get any more juice until next year.

Happy figgin fellow growers. This is my 3d year growing this awesome fruit. The flavors of these figs are way beyond anything I expected. I now know what all the hype is about. I can't get over the size of these increadably fast growing plants. I'm afraid I'm offically a figaholic.

I have had many comments after posting a pic of my fruit tree bags I found on walmart com. One comment I've seen was how hard it must be to pick every time I see a ripe fig. this zipper make it so easy to step into the canapy of the tree and harvest. I will say, I'm still loosing a few figs when they are low to the ground and close to the netting. So my trees going forward will have a single trunk and 3 to 4 branching limbs as many of the fig growers I follow on FB have suggested. I want to thank everyone who follows my journey and gives me comments and suggestions.
