Hamilton Cattle Company

Hamilton Cattle Company We are a first-generation grass-fed beef operation nestled in the hills of Chittenden and Florence, Vermont. The business currently leases two main locations.

Hamilton Cattle Company is a grass-fed, cow-calf to finish beef operation located in Florence and Chittenden, VT. We take pride in raising cattle that spend the majority of their lives on open pastureland grazing from late April to December, and consuming hay through the winter months. Cattle are fed and managed with close regard to their health, human health, and the environment. The farm raises

Red Devon and Angus genetics to produce a product that is flavorful and nutritious. Cattle are pastured on the hills of the Baird Farm in Chittenden during the summer time, and the majority of the hay land and pasture for the brood cow herd is located along the Otter Creek at the Millbrand Farm in Florence. The main cattle handling facilities are also at this location. Jamie Hamilton started the business in 2020 after returning home from traveling the country the previous fall.

A quick reintroduction for our new followers! My name is Jamie and I am a first-generation farmer/rancher here in VT. I started Hamilton Cattle Co. in 2020 when a farmer in my hometown was ready to retire and let me take the reins. My original herd of cows were actually Jersey heifers that I purchased in college and brought home in the front seat of my old Subaru Outback 😀 After working for a large, organic beef farm in college and spending time out west working on a ranch in MT, I decided to focus on beef cattle. Today, our 400 head beef herd grazes the hills of Rutland and Addison counties. We’ve got lots of exciting things happening in the near future, so feel free to share and keep following along! Thank you for the support as always, and don’t forget to buy local!
