Locally grown salads are the best salads. I’ve honestly never had to worry about getting sick from some mass produced, non-mass processed food in my life. I hear about lettuce, spinach, or leafy greens that were contaminated because some company cut corners or some administration cut standards… But when you buy local, when you buy from small businesses or farmers they have that care with their products that big corps never will. These smaller businesses whether in this case it be Amish or local farmers it helps the local economy. The local community harbors local unity.
This Toot Valley Farm is a local Amish Farm Produce/Nursery Farm that is always bumpin & vibrant with energy. They have a wonderful produce selection as well as all the gardening supplies you would ever need. There are desserts, local cheeses, crafts, & other cottage core needs.
Located on Crowl Toot rd between Oxford & Elkdale Roads outside Oxford PA & Lincoln University. There are 2 other Amish Produce/Stores on this rd so really the choices are endless.
The Sweet Salad Mix was yummy. It had different lettuce & leafy greens all mixed together. I added some chunks of cheddar cheese along with caesar dressing. I almost added some crackers as croutons but then I remembered I had some movie popcorn I needed to finish. It was a different kind of salad but it hit the spot. Fresh crispy yet splashy leafy green bites were splendid. The frieze added that nice bitterness to the rest of the sweeter romaine & red lettuce. It was a lovely way to enjoy dinner.
Happy Trails & Happy Eating

ps: I understand the Amish don’t always treat their animals nicely. I understand they have some practices that aren’t kosher in a sense. But it is nice having produce neat by. I try to stick to ones I know treat their animals better and I only visit the ones whom I have a friendly relationship with.
