It’s been four years since we moved to our property and have only made a fire twice in our fireplace. With -20 windchill outside we thought tonight was a good night to sit around the fire with a snack board for dinner.

💜 CJD Awareness Day 💜

Today is CJD Awareness Day, a time to bring attention to Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease and its related prion diseases — including Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker syndrome (GSS).

For me, this is personal, two years ago at the young age of 31 my brother was diagnosed with GSS and continues to battle this awful disease. Doctors can tell you very little as it progresses due to its rarity and while there has been some good research progress made there’s no cure yet.

GSS is an extremely rare, prion disease that affects the brain and nervous system. It causes progressive loss of coordination, balance, and memory, and currently has no cure. Awareness and research are vital to improving understanding, care, and hope for future generations.

Today, we honor everyone affected by GSS, CJD, and other prion diseases — and their families who show incredible strength and love through the hardest of days. 💜

Let’s spread awareness, share knowledge, and keep pushing for research and answers.

Jason’s Dad is in Ohio this weekend participating in the annual USA Plowing Organization national plowing competition. He participated in the antique class this morning. He is the second to last in the lineup in this video on the Cockshutt tractor that he just finished restoring.

🛠️ Nothing lights a fire under under your butt like a looming deadline 🔥
This basement reno is the last major inside piece of our reno we’ve been working on since we purchased our property. Funny how fast you move when the clock starts ticking, T minus 28 days until our exchange student arrives ⏳🏃‍♀️💨

Here’s to progress and pressure. Drywall finisher comes tomorrow and next week and then we are ready to install the floor. We’ve learned a lot along the way!
