Trevor is super excited for Wilderness Explorers Summer Workshop to start next week! He's been a little lonely without any classes the last 2 weeks 😢

There are a few spots left in next week if your kids need to get outside and get messy! No screens, just nature, fresh air, and teamwork to survive the WILD!

Forest School Summer Sampler Day 6 was extra exciting... with a morning rainstorm and threat of lightning! Less pictures as we were preoccupied with the weather, but the kids all did great despite the storm!
We wrote madlibs poetry with our squads, bound our poetry pages and made feather quills. Today's poem was "Hope is the Thing with Feathers" by Emily Dickinson.
We had a special treat today, as the burn ban was lifted yesterday, and got to do an afternoon lesson on fire safety and practice sparks with flint and steel! Perfect after a morning of rain 🤣

This Sampler was super exciting, as we got to meet new families, new teachers, and use our new Forest Classroom space! This makes me so excited for next year!
Stay tuned for some updates on the Forest School plans, and those that participated in this Sampler should keep an eye on email for the early access registration... next week!

Next up, Summer Workshops!

Forest School Summer Sampler Day 5!

Earthworm Investigation day!
We read a poem from The Dirt Book, dug into some worm interactions/ dissections, acted out silly animal limericks, made letters from nature, and got extra messy with nature made paint and paintbrushes!

Forest School, May Sampler Day 4 - we read The Crocodile by Lewis Carroll and wrote our own acrostic poems, animal themed!
We learned about ectothermic vs endothermic animals, and made sun sensitive color change slime to demonstrate (a huge hit!)
We searched for and identified animal tracks along one of our new Forest trails, to always be aware of our surroundings in the wild!

More fishing, and the happiest dirty baby around!

Day 3 of our Forest School May Sampler was a success! Last night's rain made for cooler temperatures and added to the "gross" factor of our theme!
We read poems from "Hailu, Ew!" - all about the gross in nature! We wrote haiku, dissected rotting logs, and identified s**t (animal poo!)
Just when you thought it wasn't gross enough... we ate bugs and "bee barf" (honey!)

Join us next week... we have space in the Wednesday class only... for more poetry and wilderness fun!

Our Forest School May Sampler is off to a great start! Enjoy some photos from yesterday and today, as we wrote "concrete poetry" using our poetry stones and performed "poetry duets", complete with sounds and acting out! We built water strides, and floated them, built nature chimes to adorn the new Forest Classroom, and practiced our navigation and partnership skills through games.

It's hot out, but everyone is doing a great job staying hydrated and enjoying the Forest as our classroom!

We have a few openings next Wednesday, but the rest of the days are full. Register now if you would like to tryout our new Forest School program!

We celebrated our Cultural Studies school year in a big way! Students shared their Family Heritage research projects, planned, and cooked recipes from various ancestral regions. Delicious!!
We wrapped up an amazing year of workshops with our Young Entrepreneurs Maker's Market and a performance written and produced by the Drama Lab students. We are so proud of the talent, creativity, and cooperation displayed by our Farm School students. Thank you for a fabulous year!
