These russeted beauties are a vintage variety with a well-earned following, and we’re thrilled to have them this year. Harvest has been a little weird (many earlier varieties were knocked out by frost) so we’re especially grateful that this favorite wasn’t lost

Fresh juice should be available tomorrow after a full day of crushing today! 🍏

“Getting married has become a reason to go all out with a huge event - often the bigger the better. For couples who want to celebrate their commitment without months of decision-making and a five-figure price tag, Albemarle CiderWorks has developed a less-is-more option: your very own microwedding.

This year, on June 6, the c***ry hosted its inaugural Day of I Do’s, celebrating the big day for two venturesome couples. It’s the complete package: Each couple had their own 30-minute slot for vows under the peach orchard arbor, officiated by local interfaith minister Rev. Kate Adamson; their own reception tent for a small group of family and besties; a professional photographer, so no one got delegated to cell phone camera duty; and a mini wedding cake and bottle of c***r. Total tab: [$850]. Then, the couple and their guests were welcome to stay for an afternoon of live music.

If this sounds more like your dream wedding than the extravaganzas on Instagram, Albemarle CiderWorks plans to hold a similar Day of I Do’s in November. Manager Effie Nicholson says she did event planning for large-scale weddings in a previous position in Northern Virginia, and saw “lots of stress and lots of waste.” She hopes A Day of I Do’s will become a regular offering

Lights, camera, apples! 🎥🍏✨

Our Roxbury Russets are getting their moment on screen! Months ago, the Dr. Joseph Warren Foundation reached out to see if we had any Roxburys available to be filmed for an upcoming documentary

Even though they’re doomed to get the villain edit (they’re part of a death scene 😬), we’re so excited to see our heirloom apples showcased on screen!

And props to Kevin R. Hershberger of Lionheart Filmworks for braving the tall grass to make it out to these trees!

Early September: the seasonal-liminal space where golden hues are beginning to spread across the landscape, but afternoon thunderstorms still remind us that summer isn’t quite ready to let go

This weekend marks the cultural shift into Fall, even though the calendar says we still have a few weeks to go. The sweaters can stay tucked away for now, but the season is already beginning to turn.

Here’s how we’re enjoying our weekend, on the brink of Autumn:

Saturday: The Caribbean Cookoff

Local chefs go head to head in a flavorful battle, all to raise funds for Haiti. Come hungry, stay for the cause, and enjoy live music from Byron Massie and LUA Project

Sunday: Silent Book Club

A quiet afternoon to settle in, open a book, and enjoy the simple pleasure of reading together, separately.

Monday: Something new

Calling all industry friends, long weekenders, and anyone who isn’t quite ready for the weekend to end. Jon Spear will be playing from 2:30 to 4:30! Yes, music on a Monday!

The season is changing, slowly and beautifully. Come spend a little of this in-between time with us.
