Thinking of a w**e tasting, all about blends. 🍷

My favorite blend is a Super Tuscan — especially when it includes Sangiovese, because the earth, fruit and oak all combine to create a wonderfully tasting experience.

Some of the best w**es I’ve ever had came from a stranger handing me a bottle.

On my last trip to Italy, I wandered into a tiny w**e shop in Camogli called Vizi e Sfizi. The owner took one look at me and said, try this. I’d never heard of it. Giardino dei Vescovi — a Vermentino from Colli di Luni, made by Giacomelli.

I opened it last night, and the owner knew exactly what she was doing. Saline and mineral, savory underneath, with lemon, pear, apple, and pineapple, white flowers, sage, rosemary, mint, and a flicker of white pepper on the finish. It tasted like the Ligurian coast in a glass. 🌊🍷

Lesson: when a local w**e shop owner hands you a bottle, you don’t ask questions. You buy it.
