I made a cartoon of myself today… but the message behind it is real.
When you’re striving for new heights, when God starts pulling you into new spaces, when you begin learning new words, new language, new standards so you can operate at a higher level — people will try to play you down.
They’ll act like you haven’t done the work.
They’ll look at you sideways.
They’ll try to intimidate you back into the “old place” they’re comfortable with.
But hear me clearly: Don’t shrink.
When God gives you new desires, new vocabulary, new confidence, new boundaries — that’s not random. That’s elevation. That’s preparation. That’s Him shaping you for the rooms He’s about to walk you into.
As for me, I’m learning the language of my industry because Tonette’s Kitchenette is stepping into bigger contracts, larger opportunities, and grant spaces that require me to speak with clarity, professionalism, and authority. I refuse to let anyone make me feel small for growing. I refuse to dim my light so someone else can stay comfortable.
And I want you to hear this for yourself:
Never shrink for someone else’s comfort.
Stand in the confidence of God.
Embrace the new you — the one He created from the beginning.
If God is elevating you, walk boldly.
If He’s stretching you, lean in.
If He’s calling you higher, don’t apologize for it.
This season is about stepping into the space God prepared for you — with your head high, your boundaries firm, and your spirit grounded.
Amen.
