Our story: Founders & owners, Sean & Amy Galloway, share a unique interest in fermentation. Sean home brews beer on a hand-built system and Amy bakes delicious artisan sourdough bread. The duo first explored kombucha when they were looking for a non-alcoholic fermented drink to brew for their local farmers’ market. It was a hit with customers and demand soon went through the roof! Now, they want t
o share their love of Kombucha with the rest of Kansas City by introducing “Lucky Elixir Kombucha” and becoming a go-to source for local craft Kombucha. The ancient drink, which has been called the “elixir of life,” starts with fresh-brewed sweet black or green tea. It is then fermented with a SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria & yeast.) The tea can then be blended with herbs, fruit, and spices to create unique, flavorful concoctions. The result is a naturally effervescent, earthy, and tangy tonic that is chock-full of probiotics, B vitamins, and amino acids. As Kombucha provides beneficial probiotics and detoxifiers; it has been known to help the body in myriad of ways. Kombucha is literally alive, teeming with beneficial microorganisms and active bacteria cultures that provide the body with a great source of nutrition. Kombucha is also a fantastic, healthful alternative to sugary soda. Our tea is a combination of black and green tea, sourced by Hugo Tea Co. Even though the tea starts out sweetened, the sugar is consumed by the SCOBY during the fermentation process, which leaves a low level of sugar in the finished drink. Our mission to make great tasting, craft kombucha is born from a desire to provide our community with a local, healthy and sustainable beverage option. Not only does kombucha offer a multitude of health benefits, but it’s also just plain fun to drink! Try it:
