I think the saying goes, “high risk, high reward,” and it was true for our team this week! We took a chance on the weather to get in another cutting of hay, and it turned out to be some of the best hay we’ve made so far this year! 🌾

Another week of hay season is in the books! The heat and smoky air from the Canadian wildfires made for some interesting conditions, but our team put in some hard work and got more hay in the barn.

Another busy week on the farm! 🌾

Wheat harvest has been keeping us busy, and we're thankful for every dry day we've had to keep moving!

A big thank you to everyone who has had a hand in harvest. From running the combine and driving trucks to fixing breakdowns and keeping everything moving, it truly takes a team. We couldn't do it without all the hard work and support.

The Fourth of July is always a fun and busy time for us and all farmers!

We were thankful for a stretch of dry weather before the holiday that allowed us to get another cutting of hay in the barn with the help of family who were visiting for the Fourth. Then Mother Nature brought a few much needed storms to wrap up the holiday weekend, giving us time to enjoy great food, relax, and spend time together.

We hope everyone had a safe and happy Fourth of July. Happy 250th birthday America! 🇺🇸

Pumpkin planting is complete! 🎃

This year's pumpkin crop is in the ground, kicking off another growing season. We're growing approximately 75 varieties of pumpkins, gourds, and squash, including a few new additions we're excited to see this fall.

Now comes the waiting game. Over the next few weeks, we'll be watching for baby pumpkin plants to emerge and honey bees to begin pollinating the blossoms as the crop grows.

Remember to shop local and visit Nickajack Farms this fall for locally grown pumpkins, gourds, and squash straight from the field.
