I didn't suspect tetanus at all , because her mom had her CDT about a month before birthing. A good friend of mine had a baby born with what seemed to be tetanus a couple months back and it had to be put down and I literally said to Justin . " Wake up call! We need to get these CDT shots done on all these animals !" We went through and did them ALL the next day ! I have been doing this for a while and never experienced this. I'm putting these videos out there for educational purposes. Once there is clinical signs is an uphill battle I was told . They both had a slight fever. They walk very stiff. With Tic Tac I was pretty set on the fact it was an injury . The mother most likely started bunting her at a week and a half because she knew that something was wrong with her. Animals have such strong instincts and they aren't usually like humans in the way that we see our child suffering and we try to fix it. I most likely will lose Mugsy too but I'm trying hard with her. She is on penicillin, banamine, vitamin B or thiamine, charcoal, and lactated ringer solution. I also was able to find one dose of Tetanus antitoxine which there is a severe shortage of. I would have given her 2 if I could find another. Potsdam, Malone, Massena Tractor Supply has no more and neither does Runnings or our vet . Sucks. I always like to try to think of what I could do to not let this happen again. Maybe I left the CDT vaccine out of the fridge too long when using it (might have got too warm) ,but other than that I can't think of anything . Sometimes we try our best and it just doesn't cut it ! I will keep you updated on Mugsy. It make me sick to lose another .
