Pumpkin Update #3 - WE HAVE LEAVES! 🌱🎃
After almost 6 inches of rain, Farmer Dean was relieved to find the first pumpkin plants emerging from the soil.
Those tiny first leaves are called cotyledons, and they’re growing safely under a blanket of crimped rye grass, which helps protect the soil and these baby pumpkins as they get established.
It’s hard to believe these little sprouts will someday become giant carving pumpkins and colorful specialty pumpkins spread across 22 acres.
The pumpkin journey is officially underway. Follow along all summer long, and we’ll see you in the patch this fall! 🍂
