I grew up believing that food should taste good. My mother Vivian, a home economics teacher turned stay at home mom, knew how to flavor food so it was both nutritious and delicious. Both ordinary and fancy dishes tasted good when she prepared them. My father never hesitated to bring people home for dinner (often unannounced) because of his complete confidence that there would always be delicious food for dinner. Meals at our house brought people together. Fast forward to my adult years when I had friends with Celiac disease who complained that gluten free food was terrible, inconvenient and expensive. Their special diet was also isolating in social situations. Food should taste good! Food should include others!” I began looking for options to make gluten free food that tasted wonderful and was easy for any cook to prepare. In the spring of 2011, a woman next to me in a cooking class insisted that being gluten free had handicapped her ability to cook. She could no longer use cans of cream soup as a base in her recipes, so I sent her a recipe to make her own soup mix along with a seasoning list to help her flavor food. Later that summer, I helped cook for a church youth camp with a dairy allergic participant and adapted my recipe to be dairy free. I realized that this was a product that would make it easy for people to cook deliciously satisfying food again. Our first product, Creamy Mushroom Soup and Sauce mix was launched that fall. At Wheat Free Nutrition, we still believe what Vivian showed us around the family dinner table; food is meant to be enjoyed together with people you love. We are dedicated to bring you products and information that brings flavor and togetherness back to your table too. Laura Huffman
