Obsession Show Stock Raising high quality breeding stock and club lambs. Polled Dorsets
Dorset Advantages
Southdowns Verhaeghe Dorsets started as a 4-H project for Kaitlyn Verhaeghe.

I have been involved with sheep and sheep breeding since birth as my parents instilled the passion and fire from day one and one generation to the next! As I was growing up I was very dedicated to my sheep and my parents chose to start helping me build a flock of my own breed. When my first year of 4-H rolled around I bought my first dorset ewe from Slack Club lambs. Since that first dorset ewe my

passion has flourished. One ewe quickly grew into a flock of one hundred. I enjoyed many years of traveling the show circuit and exhibiting my dorsets with many achievements. I continued my dorset flock as I aged out of the junior shows. I turned my attention to breeding and marketing my sheep and seeing my offspring go to new homes and become successful and have successful show careers for younger kids with the same dreams in their eyes that I had at one time. That is my goal- to raise quality dorsets that give the future 4-Hers/exhibitiors a great start to their future and be able to watch them succeed!

If you want to mass your southdowns up, make them great shouldered, easy keeping, and improve your breed character get in on this ram! If we had more southdown ewes and didn't have a keeper ram lamb we wouldn't be offering him!

Haws Genetics & Club Lambs had a good handful of late babies out of him. Semen customers had a lot of positive comments about the set of babies they got. They are late bloomers and really come on post 45 days. He consistently throws them good necked, smooth shouldered, freaky ribbed and shallow with a great underline. So far what we have seen is they get thicker and thicker every week.

Our Story

Hello! Thank You for taking the time to visit our page. We wanted to share with you a little of our story and why we pour our lives into raising sheep! Brett and I both grew up on family farms raising sheep and respecting agriculture. It is the lifestyle we know and love. We both completed 10 years of 4-H. Brett finished Sheep, Swine, Goats & Rabbits and I completed Sheep, Boer Goats, Swine, Beef and Horse & Pony.

A quick summary of how we started my flock: growing up we were raising Hampshire/Suffolk Commercial Club lambs and I wanted something different and a breed of my own. My parents and I selected Polled Dorset’s. In 1999 we purchased my first Dorset ewe from Tom Slack. My parents and I incorporated ewes and rams from various breeders and overtime my flock consisted of Martin and Slack genetics. By 2013, I grew my flock to include 75 Dorset ewes and 25 Commercial Club Lamb ewes.

On October 4, 2014, Brett Slack and I were married. We then relocated my ewes to North Manchester, IN so Brett and I could begin our lives together and we made the transition from Verhaeghe Dorsets to Obsession Show Stock.
