For the first time ever on Labor Day, the national average for regular gas is above $4 a gallon, sitting at about $4.15.

And where you live makes a huge difference.

💸 California: $5.86/gallon
⛽ Indiana: $3.43/gallon
🌴 Florida: $3.91/gallon — about 25¢ below the national average.

THOUSANDS OF DRIVERS HAVE BEEN ARRESTED FOR SPEEDING IN FLORIDA.

Florida’s “Super Speeder” law changed the consequences for extreme speeding. Drivers accused of going 50+ MPH over the speed limit or reaching 100+ MPH under qualifying circumstances can face criminal charges, not just a speeding ticket.

More than a year after the law took effect, thousands of arrests have been reported across Florida.

THE FLOCK CAMERA PULLBACK IN FLORIDA GETS BIGGER. 🚨

What started with FDOT ordering license plate readers removed from state highway rights-of-way has triggered a much broader response across Florida. But this is NOT a statewide Flock ban.

In just days, Baker, Bay, Brevard, Duval, Franklin, Putnam, Santa Rosa, Volusia and others have moved to discontinue programs, while agencies in Escambia, Leon, Miami-Dade, Okaloosa, Osceola, Seminole and Flagler have suspended use.

Clay, Hernando, Lake, Pasco, St. Lucie and Walton have also taken action involving cameras on county-controlled roads or property.

And it’s still changing. In the last 48 hours, Gainesville Police shut off its ALPR cameras, Flagler suspended Flock use, St. Lucie expanded restrictions to county property, and Palm Beach paused new county-road ALPR permits.

Not everyone is pulling back. Jacksonville Beach plans to continue using the technology where permitted, while Miami Beach leadership is pushing to preserve its use.

The rapid-fire announcements may be slowing, but the next wave could come from city/county commission votes, contracts and local legislation.

Florida’s Flock camera landscape has changed dramatically in just 72 hours.

It started with the state ordering automated license plate readers including Flock cameras off state highway rights-of-way. FDOT revoked existing permits, stopped issuing new ones and gave agencies 30 days to remove affected cameras.

This is NOT a statewide ban on Flock cameras.

But many local agencies have now gone much further.

Based on our latest county-by-county tracker (12:00PM Sept 2 edit)

🔴 15 counties — Program discontinued/ended
🟠 8 counties — Suspended use by local agency
🟡 5 counties — County road restrictions
⚪ 39 counties — No broader local action confirmed

That means 27 of Florida’s 67 counties or 40% of the state have now suspended, discontinued or begun discontinuing broader ALPR operations.

Important: Florida did NOT ban Flock cameras statewide. It’s much more complicated. Different counties and agencies are taking different actions, and privately operated cameras may still remain active despite the restrictions ordered by the governor on state roads.

The situation is changing quickly, and we’re continuing to track all 67 Florida counties as new announcements come in.

The last 24 hours have been one of the biggest setbacks for FLOCK cameras in Florida yet.

Following Gov. DeSantis and FDOT's move to remove license plate readers from state highway rights-of-way, counties, sheriffs and cities across Florida are now reviewing their own programs. Some are suspending use, terminating contracts or removing cameras altogether.

But "ban" isn't exactly the right word. Florida hasn't banned FLOCK statewide, and private cameras at HOAs, businesses and other properties may remain.

Festival traffic can mean packed highways, unfamiliar roads, changing speed limits and increased law enforcement activity. A few simple precautions can help keep you safe and reduce your chances of getting pulled over:

🚗 Give your vehicle a pre-festival inspection
👀 Make sure your license plate is clearly visible
🎒 Secure your gear and don’t overload your vehicle
😴 Never drive impaired or dangerously fatigued
⚠️ Watch for sudden speed-limit changes, especially through small towns

These tips aren’t just for Burning Man. Whether you’re headed to a music festival, camping festival or another major event, prepare the car, obey the traffic laws and save the party for when you get there.

Front license plates on collector cars? Hard pass for us. 😩🏎️

For car enthusiasts, there’s nothing worse than having to drill into a bumper and slap a plate on the front of a car that was never designed for one.

But how common are front plate laws?

🚘 29 states + Washington, D.C. require front license plates.

Florida currently isn’t one of them — and an attempt to change that this year didn’t make it through.
