🥖 Don’t toss that stale sourdough! 🥖

One of the coolest things about sourdough is that it can be brought back to life long after bake day. 🙌

In this video I’m showing my favorite “sourdough resurrection” trick — when your loaf starts getting a little too firm, slice it up, give it a quick rinse under water (yes… WATER 😳), and then toast it.

And before you think that sounds crazy… remember: sourdough is made with just four simple ingredients — flour, starter, salt, and water. 💧 We’re simply reincorporating one of those ingredients back into the bread to restore some of that moisture.

The result? Soft, warm, fresh-tasting sourdough that feels like it just came out of the oven. ✨

So before you think your loaf has gone too far… give it a little hydration and a second chance. Your sourdough deserves it. ❤️

🍓 A little taste of summer is coming to Lake & Loaf… 🍓

These strawberries were freshly picked at delangesredberryfarm and are about to become something extra special: homemade strawberry jam. ❤️

A big thank you to DeLange’s for growing such beautiful berries! Their u-pick is officially open, so if you’re looking for a fun summer outing (and the sweetest berries around), go pick your own! 🍓🌿

I’m keeping this jam simple and letting nature do the work — no store-bought pectin here! This recipe uses natural pectin from citrus and apple to help create that perfect homemade jam texture.

Just ripe berries, simple ingredients, and a whole lot of love. ✨

The Lake & Loaf stand is officially open saturday morning starting at 8 AM until sold out! Edith has been working overtime in the kitchen, and the shelves are fully stocked with all your favorite sourdough breads, pastries, and extras.

Please note that the bread stand will be CLOSED next Saturday. Because we are taking a week off, we highly recommend coming by Saturday to stock up on your favorites! (Pro-tip: Our sourdough boules and sandwich bread freeze beautifully so you don't have to go without!).

After taking a little breather last weekend, the Lake & Loaf stand is officially back this Saturday morning starting at 8 AM until sold out! Edith (my sourdough starter) has had plenty of time to rest up, and she’s been incredibly busy in the kitchen prepping a fresh lineup of artisanal goodies. Come back later this week for this week's full menu and flavors! 📋✨

🧠 Sourdough Fun Fact of the Week!
Did you know that traditional sourdough is practically a superpower for your gut?
Because sourdough undergoes a long fermentation process, the wild yeast and lactic acid bacteria essentially "pre-digest" the grains. This breaks down a lot of the gluten and phytic acid, making it much easier on your stomach and allowing your body to absorb more nutrients than standard store-bought bread. So yes, eating that extra slice of Jalapeño Cheddar is officially a wellness choice. 😉
