The idea for my business began when I had my son in March 2011 and I wanted to stay at home with him. Because I started this business in order to stay home with my son, Ashton Ray, I decided to name my business after him, and so began A Ray of Sunshine. I began by putting together a few jellies and jams with fruits and vegetables grown in my garden so I could take them to the local Farmer’s Market

. I hope that as Ashton grows, so will my business, so if there’s something you’d like to have, but don’t see it, please ask me and I’ll see about making it! Stop by the Farmer’s Market every Saturday through October from 7:30 a.m. to see me and Ashton and pick up a few homemade goodies.

Did you know that buying (raw) honey that is produced closest to your home is the best for helping with allergies? That way it contains the pollen of plants you are surrounded with.
Facts about our honey:
🐝Our hives stay here (North Platte) year round.
🍯We only sell honey from our own hives, this means we can guarantee the honey is local but it also means we don't have as much for sale as other producers - when its out, its out!
🌻We do not process/cook our honey. Raw honey will crystallize over time, but it is still good! Cooking honey gets rid of the beneficial parts of your honey - just gently warm it and it will be liquid gold again!

Between busy schedules and weather I have not been able to get into our hives lately. The bees were "politely" telling me they needed more room to store honey - they will build comb wherever they can if they run out of room.
Then we had 10 completely full frames of honey we can harvest. I didn't think there was much available for them right now, due to the drought, but they are finding something!
