Let’s chat some of the things you’re going to see pop-up around you and in your yard (if you’re lucky). One of my favorites is Jewelweed!

Jewelweed (Impatiens capensis) is a natural plant remedy best known for soothing poison ivy, easing bug bites, and calming skin inflammation. Its fresh stem juice or extracts contain natural compounds like lawsone and saponins that act as gentle anti-inflammatories and antihistamines.

To use, break a piece off and chew or chop it up and apply it directly to the area needing relief. It helps prevent or reduce the severity of rashes and itching from poison ivy, oak, and sumac. Calms the redness, swelling, and itchiness caused by mosquito bites and stinging nettle.
Anti-Inflammatory properties! Lowers skin irritation and general discomfort from minor scrapes or minor skin bumps.
Anti-fungal Properties! Used traditionally to help clear minor fungal issues like athlete’s foot or ringworm.

So many ways to use this amazing plant but as I said above, you can break the juicy, hollow stem of a live plant and rub the fresh liquid directly onto the affected skin. You can make a salve or balm, or one of my go-to’s is a spray!

If you have this plant in your yard don’t pull it but take some good clippings and utilize it just like our ancestors did!

Here at the farm, our goal is to be as self-sufficient as possible so, we have the chickens to lay eggs. We have chickens specifically for meat. We also get a cow from a friend and local farmer. We also have our garden here that we do yearly and expand each year. Here is a portion of what we have done and that includes lots of squash and zucchini lots of beans, tons of lettuce (good thing too with this craziness happening!), so many eggplant, all the herbs- basil, oregano, parsley, as well as peppers and not pictured we have a ton of tomato plants, some onions, garlic, and chive, as well as some corn! The pumpkins are also going and will be ready when the season changes!

Oh and I can’t forget the watermelon and cantaloupe that we’re hoping will produce since every year we try and we rarely get more than one a season 🫠

And after this morning’s harvest of basil, it will be going right into the freeze dryer so I can save it for future cooking!

In case you’ve been wondering what we’ve been up to.. the answer is lots of baking! And lots of product making! And even more beach days and fun at the Campground, making all the memories!

We hope that you are soaking up just as much vitamin C and having all the fun summertime brings.

Picture you will see our blueberry cheesecake, twist, some chocolate buns, covered in chocolate frosting, as well as a coffee based frosting, peanut butter banana buns, our wonderful fresh eggs, some blueberry classic and maple bacon buns, some of our wonderful soaps, our bug and tick spray that has worked fabulous while at the Campground! As well as our big delicious cookies, our sunscreen, and soothing cream, our new babies that have hatched and integrated into the farm, honey products from Don’t Bee Shy, lots of Campground exploring and sitting by fires.. we’ve really been having a blast and this is just a little peek!

CALL FOR ARTISTS & ARTISANS
For the 6th season in a row the Village Art Cooperative will hold its annual Pop-Up-Shop - a gallery and gift shop showcasing handcrafted items made by the area's very own artists, farmers and artisans. We are all local, all the time. As we are preparing for our 2026 fall season in the heart of historic Chepachet Village, inside the Glocester Heritage Society's Job Armstrong Building, we have a few spaces available for new talent to be showcased. The chance to join a team of over 15 independent artists, farmers and artisans is here and we want to hear from you!
All work must be locally created (Within 50 miles of Chepachet). Participants must explain to our panel their craft, and exhibit the type and quality of work in their application. This is a juried process and we consider total shoppe composition in order to offer a variety of unique items to our community but also to allow each and every artist under our roof to shine.

The gist in a nutshell - We have spaces from 2ft to 9 ft available. Doors open to the public end of August and wrap up the week of Christmas. We are open on weekends,extended hours after Halloween, for special holidays and town events. One thing that makes us unique is that our artists are the ones working behind the charming antique store counter, and so shoppers can meet the talent that makes up the shop as they support local! It really builds a beautiful tie with the community that we are proud of; Artists are required to work a minimum of 8 hours a month (2 shifts) as store keeper (comes with training) representing your own items and those of the other artists. Annual dues of $75, and then monthly fees of $10/ sq foot apply. Artist insurance is required (we do have a small inexpensive group plan to buy into if you dont have your own).
