Just a reminder that we slow things down a bit on Sunday afternoons since it's just one family and a gnarly group of seasonal help that keep this place humming 7 days a week. The store is packed up and we're out the door by 5 o'clock every Sunday afternoon, but until then it looks like another beautiful day to visit for fresh produce, bread, milk, eggs, and honey.

Summer and fall, this time of year brings (just about) it all.

This week has seen our crew harvesting everything from apples to zinnias. It's a great time of year to visit the farm.

One new apple we'd like to introduce is the Sweet Maia. We received a beautiful bin of this up and coming apple from our friends at Sunnycrest Orchard in Sterling, Ma. An offshoot of Honeycrisp, the Sweet Maia is similar to a Gala, which we haven't quite started harvesting yet. It's a wonderful apple for snacking and a great size for packing in kids' school lunches. Stop in and check them out.

A final note from this weekend: Flourstorm is on vacation so there is no sourdough this Saturday or Sunday. They will return and get geared up for the busy fall season next week.

Open until 6 today ( Saturday) and 9 to 5 on Sunday. See you soon!

Looking to do some winter prep in the kitchen during this stretch of showery and cool weather? We have half bushels of #1 field grown tomatoes for sale in the store this morning and some cases of seconds as well; $35 and $25 per case, respectively.

Note that if you ordered a case of tomatoes we will still be reaching out - however, if you do not want to wait these tomatoes are available to anyone, first come, first served.

Yesterday a customer came by the store and remarked that while the corn this season has been impressive, it's got to soon be coming to an end.

No!

Actually, corn season is just hitting its stride. This past weekend we picked a bit of our hugely popular "Providence" sweet corn and then moved to picking that variety exclusively for today. This corn is characterized by its impressively large ear size and tenderness, especially when it's harvested on the younger side. It's the best corn that we grow and should be available straight into September.

Try some for dinner this week, you will not be disappointed!

Short blueberry PYO update!

We have had such an incredibly busy several weeks that we really haven't had time to share many details about pick your own but here are a few important updates!

Blueberry season will last for another week or two. We have bushes that still have lots of great fruit. See the attached video. However, all blueberries except for our late season bushes like the ones in the video have been completely picked. So while these particular bushes have a lot of fruit, there are only a small percentage of bushes that have fruit remaining.

We will use the field at the "red house" just beyond North Smithfield Middle School on Providence Pike. Picking is 5.99/lb. Stop at the stand before proceeding to the field.

Picking should be available all weekend though calling ahead is always a good idea.

See you soon!

Still thinking of picking your own blueberries before the season ends?

Our best advice is to wait a few days for picking. Our early season blueberries are almost completely picked but we will be opening a new field with more later season blueberries. We expect this to happen by Thursday of this week. In the meantime we still have enough freshly picked berries from our third blueberry field to supply the store with pre picked fruit.

Regardless of the above, we expect blueberry season to wind down by the end of the month. Summer is sure flying by!

Lastly, a quick reminder that we are closing at 5 o'clock today due to the state holiday.

See you soon!

August is all about tomatoes!

It always seems to take forever but over the past week it's light a switch has flipped on our field grown tomatoes. After a slow start in July we now have plenty of beautiful heirloom tomatoes, cherry and grape tomatoes, and low acid tomatoes flowing into the store.

Please note that Monday, August 10 is Victory Day in Rhode Island and our store will observe holiday hours and close at 5 o'clock as a result. Regular hours this weekend (9 to 6 o'clock Saturday, 9 to 5 o'clock on Sunday).

See you soon!

Happy Tuesday to you!

Blueberry picking is open today but please note that there are areas of significant standing water along the walk to the field and in parts of the field itself. Peak blueberry picking has passed but we anticipate blueberry season lasting another 2 to 3 weeks.

Today we begin harvesting our popular yellow flesh donut peaches. They will be available in the store by this afternoon. Juicy and very flavorful, these peaches are sure to be a hit. As we had posted earlier in the summer, this year's peach crop is smaller than normal and unfortunately we will not be able to offer pick your own donut peaches this year.

Nate and Cameron have just finished unloading today's corn which was just harvested and Rachael and Marissa have just about finished set up in the store. There are mountains of beautiful vegetables waiting for you today!

Pick Your own blueberries will be closed today, Friday July 31, as there are numerous puddles and standing water from all the rain over the past couple of days. The field will reopen at 9am tomorrow.

There will be plenty of pre-picked blueberries available in the store today!
