Not all hay bales are created equal! 🌾💪

Today we are putting in the work loading up some of our premium 3-string alfalfa!

These bales are no joke when it comes to weight! 😂 But they’re also one of the higher-end hay products we proudly carry here at Mistywood Acres.

Known for its rich nutritional value, high protein content, and excellent quality, alfalfa is a great option for animals with higher nutritional needs. 🐴🌾

Whether you’re looking for our locally grown hay, New York hay, or premium western alfalfa, we’ve got options to fit your feeding needs!

Most of our days are spent in the fields, making hay, and keeping the farm running. 🚜🌾

But every once in a while, we get to slow down and squeeze in a few projects around home.

Today’s project? Fresh mulch for Sawyer’s swing set, with Dad and Pop right by his side. ❤️

Because as much as we love farming, it’s these little moments, three generations working together, that mean the most. 🥹🌿

A little pasture maintenance and a whole lot of excitement for what’s ahead! 🐑🌱

Rotational grazing has become such an important part of how we care for our flock here at Mistywood Acres. Healthier pastures, happier sheep, and a little extra work moving fences along the way! 😂

And the exciting part? We’re officially heading into our very first breeding season! Our ram will be joining the girls next week, and we’re praying for some healthy spring lambs! 🤍

We’re learning, growing, and loving every minute of this new chapter on the farm! 🌾🐑

We’re over here reminiscing about those long summer days in the hay fields ☀️🌾

There’s just something about watching the baler roll through the field that already has us missing hay season. 🤍

But things aren’t slowing down at Mistywood Acres! We still have plenty of hay coming in from New York to keep the barns stocked through the colder months and we’re getting VERY close to having our first Mistywood Acres lamb available for purchase! 🐑🤎

From hay season to lamb season… there’s always something happening around here, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🤍🌾

Just a few happy sheep doing what they do best 🐑🌱🤍

Fun fact: when we decided to add sheep to Mistywood Acres, we put a lot of thought into which breed would be the best fit for our farm and Katahdins checked so many boxes for us!

They’re known for their natural parasite resistance, great mothering abilities, hardiness, and the fact that they’re a hair sheep meaning no shearing! 👏🏼

For a family just starting our sheep adventure, they felt like the perfect fit. And watching them happily graze around the farm makes us love our decision even more. 🥹🐑

Little by little, our farm keeps growing. 🤍🌾

Not even a nor’easter can stop them 😂🌧️🐑

That’s the thing about farming even on the days you’d rather stay warm and dry inside, the work still has to get done. The animals aren’t going to feed themselves! 😂

Rain, wind, or shine… farm chores don’t take a day off. 🐑🤍

Nothing says farm life like a morning work sesh in your pajamas 😂🐑

The whole crew was out bright and early wrapping up the old sheep fence and getting ready to move the girls to some fresh ground.

No time to get dressed… there’s sheep fence to move. 🤷🏼‍♀️😂

Just another day at Mistywood Acres. 🌾🐑
