Spring is in full bloom, and there’s so many pretty things to see around the farm. Like this butterfly that decided to visit while I was taking pictures of the lilacs. I wish lilacs bloomed all summer long.

Everyone’s talking about it, and how could they not?! The northern lights were absolutely stunning tonight! So bright that you can watch the colors dance in the sky. What a truly incredible thing to see.

I just adore the abundance of violets in our yard. We find them in white, purple, and yellow, and seeing them all over makes me happy. Funny, though, last year I tried potting some but the chickens and geese ate them. So, now I just leave them which is probably better anyway.

After discovering a sudden leak somewhere under the hood that was only discovered after days of rainfall, the Edge was getting close to living up to its acronym of Found On Road Dead (or Drowned, I should say), so we upgraded to a 2024 Chevy!

A couple weeks ago we tilled a patch near the orchard and sprinkled a bunch of wildflower seeds. I’m impatient and needed an excuse to visit the Menards garden center and gawk at all the flowers, so I bought and planted a few in the patch to get things going for next year’s bees. I also transplanted some wild Columbine and ditch lily that we have growing around the yard. I’ve mostly accepted the fact that I can’t have flowers anywhere near the house because the chickens and geese eat them, so this is going to be my little pretty spot (hopefully) far enough from the chickens. I hope as the years go on they’ll spread out and I’ll have a little jungle of flowers. I’ll bring a blanket and lay in the grass and watch the bees doing their little bee thang.

Lola’s favorite time of the day is first thing in the morning because it means her humans are awake and she can hang out with them again.
