Aksarben Stock Show has come and gone!

Zaria had a great time! There was lots of learning, growing and making of memories.

Cherry was in the White Breed influence class- he needed more bone and lacked any sort of leg s**g. His placing was 19th.

Lila was 11th in the lightweight commercial ewe class and Elizabeth was 6th in the All of Breeds class.

We survived on the farm without Billy and Zaria. Seamus really stepped up and was such a big help. We ran the whole farm aside from Matt adding in silage to the mixer and administration of the corn silage in the feeders.

Yesterday, Zaria, Elizabeth, Cherry and Lila left for the Aksarben Stock Show!! Billy tagged along, too. I can't wait to watch from home. If you want the link, please inquire and I can sent it to you.

As for the farm, myself and the 4 boys are keeping things running! I'm hoping for a smooth 4 days. Billy also recruited an alternate to do his part of the feeding that I'm not quite ready to handle, driving the tractor and mixer through the buildings to feed silage. A special thanks to Matt.

Stay tuned for updates on the farm and stock show!

FFA Encampment at the State Fair was 2 weekends ago and I think we are all still recovering.

It was a whirlwind way to end out the summer.

14 lambs. 1 yearling. Were in attendance for the market and breeding show. Zaria poured her heart into her lambs this show session and the payoff was so sweet!

We are so proud of all her hard work.

MN State Fair 4H encampment highlights ~

Silas ~

His first state fair trip! Silas took part in the general livestock judging contest. His team (intermediate) was 8th overall. Silas showed Prada in the black face commercial fall born ewe lamb class, showmanship and for lamb lead. Each time he walked out of the ring smiling! He said he had the time of his life! And so did Prada! So proud of this kid and all his personal growth this summer!

Zaria ~

Zaria also competed in the general livestock judging contest. Her team (senior) was reserve champion and they are headed to Kansas City to compete at the American Royal in October.

Lamb Lead ~ 4th place at the intermediate level. She loves lamb lead and it shows.

Market show ~ black face wether dam. Lila weighed in at 115 pounds and was the second lightest in the class of 15, with the top weight 130 pounds. She placed 7th in the class and was pleased.

Showmanship ~ received a call back to the final drive but didn't receive a placing. I sure love watching her in the ring and seeing all her growth since last state fair.

Up next..... Zaria is back at the state fair for FFA encampment this weekend.

As the summer wraps, I feel the last hurrah, rush of chaos upon us!

State Fair.

This year, both, Zaria and Silas are going. And this momma is freaking out. Just a bit.

Tomorrow morning, they leave for 5 days. 5 days of competition. 5 days with friends. 5 days of making memories, growing more as young people and having the times of their lives.

I'm beyond grateful I get to be their biggest fan and have a front row seat to cheer them on.
