I found some wicked cool fabric at the a few months back, 6 yards of a wool blend for $10 (it was a 50% off day). It's been in my stash waiting for the right moment and now it is some wicked cool gangster pants! I absolutely adore the fit and feel of this funky fabric. I have a dress cut out of it too, I'll get working on that next. Finding fabric from someone else's stash has become one of my favorite things to do. What a joy to be able to take something that was loved, but never used, and give it life.

It's me made May and I'm soaking up every second of it! My cardigan is the Larch cardigan by jessicamknits out of some of my lambswool yarn. I love the texture and fit of this piece. I'll have similar yarns that would make a lovely Larch at this weekend.
Pants are my favorite Arthur pants by I've made a lot of these pants and I keep going back.
Hat is the Nor Easter from out of some stash Icelandic blend. I made it slouchy by adding a few extra rows.

The fabric did have some demonic smells that escaped during pressing and washing. I think they need one more wash and time in the sun to exorcise the demons. It is a smell that reminds one of Kmart, tires, and popcorn. Remember friends, wash that fabric before you use it. Don't be like me and fill your house with the haunting smells of Kmart.

Hey friends! My favorite month is coming up fast! To be honest, every month is my favorite for different reasons but May is special. May rushes in on a full moon during Beltane, bringing spring, flowers and new life! It is also the month where we celebrate makers, slow fashion and creativity with !!
I love long celebrations, deep conversations, and rich textures. So for this month I'm offering 10% off of all my products at in person events and on the website! Starting tomorrow, which is May 1st and Beltane, use code memade on the website. In person just come and show me some of your amazing me made items!!
Let's collectively celebrate the art we adorn our bodies with, that were created by our hands and the hands of other skilled artists.
Be sure to check out the website to find me in the wild. I always have special yarns and rovings at in person events that never seem to make it to the websites. This May I'll be at the , and !

What I'm wearing! I've been making like mad but not posting. Sometimes tucking in is necessary.
halibut cardigan. I shrunk it. It's made with my Icelandic blended yarn.
retazo jacket made from an old quilt I found at the thrift store
My low contrast king salmon sweater by made from naturally dyed funky yarn I made, and my radiEWEactive yarn for the fish. Secret special fun fact, the fish have bits of sparkle that glow under a black light.
More halibut cardigan with my hinterland dress
And finally... the sideline wrap by made with my "oh fer cute" and a gray test yarn I created for my CSA group. It is perfect for windy April days.

Keep making friends, enjoy the sun, fight the patriarchy

Do ewe remember when little bingo came to visit everyone during the shop hop last year? How could we forget his cute face and the delightful gifts he left behind on the shop floor! Well bingo is all grown up and wouldn't appreciate the experience as much anymore. So this year I'm bringing one of the triplets! Little treble (named after the crochet stitch) is going to join us at the shop on Sunday. So if you are planning to attend which happens to be on Sunday to "flash your stash" ha ha you can ohh and ahhh over her beautiful little lamb locks.
She is quite a cute and spunky little lady, ready to give you lamb kisses and snuggles. Hope to see ewe at the shop hop!!!

There's nothing so relaxing as spinning well-prepared fiber longdraw. My Timbertops Sherwood is my favorite wheel for longdraw. Since it's set up "left handed" (with the or***ce on the right), I can draw across to the left without twisting my body. The large flywheel makes this wheel very light to treadle and I can spin consistently over many, many yards of yarn. Fiber is the December fiber share from Get Bentz Farm's fiber CSA. Corriedale with dyed Teeswater locks.

Sometimes the fabric finds me... this gem of someone's art project? Or first quilt at a class? Was hidden in the lower level of an antique store in Hastings. I went adventuring with two friends and found this gem, it just had to come home with me! It had the smell of grandmas house after a wild card night... after washing only some of the demons remained, lingering at each pressing under hot steam.
I knew when I saw it, it had to be overalls. And now it is! This is a simplicity pattern that I adapted to work with a quilt. The random fabrics, the utter chaos, the shear unhinged placement of the ties, the random moose fabric..... Perfection.
Next time you are in an antique shop and see something that calls to you, just get it and let the insanity flow my friends.

Yep... it's a blizzard out there. So far we have two bfl ewe lambs born on this delightful day. We are down to the last 5 ewes to lamb, our season is almost over. The drifts have covered the barn door, and it's blowing so hard it's impossible to plow. So I guess I'll stay inside and sew and bottle the first batch of maple syrup.

Guess who figured out how to sew pants and hasn’t been able to stop?!! If you guessed me, you are correct! These are the bomb from made from a army blanket that I got at their second sale in the spring. This pattern is perfect for making comfy woolen pants that easily go over a base layer.
What did I learn from making pants out of a blanket? Well… having a walking foot makes the job easy and either an older sewing machine (I used my 1990 singer and my sew tough machine) will do the job. My newer singer struggled with the fabric. I shortened the pattern to fit my short legs and did not add the elastic to the back part of the waist.
And as a true sewing madwomen I’ve made two pairs of wool chanterelle pants! Love that pattern for lighter weight wools. Now to go cut some delightful wool fabric for a wintery hinterland dress.

Let me know if you want to come to the second sale with me in the spring! It’s a heck of a lot of fun!
