A Michigan Harvest Vegetarian Epicurean Feast
Thursday, October 23 at Black Star Farms
We’re honored to be part of an extraordinary evening celebrating Michigan’s culinary talent and fall harvest. A collection of acclaimed chefs from across the state, including Metro Detroit’s Jimmy Schmidt, Amber Poupore, and George Vutetakis, will come together at Black Star Farms for A Michigan Harvest Vegetarian Epicurean Feast, a collaborative event highlighting the depth and creativity of vegetarian cuisine.
The evening begins with a reception from 4:00–6:00 PM in Black Star Farms’ historic centennial barn, featuring appetizers, live music, and local wine. Dinner follows from 6:30–9:00 PM at the Inn, with four to five courses paired with wine by our own Amanda Danielson, who will serve as sommelier for the evening.
The dinner and menu preparation will be filmed for the 2026 Detroit PBS film Detroit: The City of Chefs III, directed by Keith Famie and produced by Visionalist Entertainment Productions. The year-long documentary will spotlight Detroit’s urban farming community and Michigan chefs specializing in vegetarian cuisine.
Participating Northern Michigan chefs include our very own Myles Anton, along with Les Eckert (NMC’s Great Lakes Culinary Institute), Andrew Viren (Taproot Cider House), Sarah Bobier (Artisan Traverse City), Jennifer Blakeslee and Eric Patterson (The Cooks' House), Emily Stewart and Andy Elliott (Modern Bird), James Broome (Bourbons 72), and Jen Welty (9 Bean Rows).
Proceeds from the event will benefit Leelanau Christian Neighbors, 5 Loaves 2 Fish, and Project Feed the Kids, local organizations supporting our community through food security initiatives.
