Green Bird Cellars & Farm

Green Bird Cellars & Farm Nestled in a valley and hidden from the main roads, Green Bird is Leelanau County's best kept secret. Settle in & stay awhile.

Proudly putting farming first, we use organic, regenerative agricultural practices to produce estate-grown wines and ciders. If you'd like to have some wine and cider shipped, please visit us at https://vinoshipper.com/shop/green_bird_organic_cellars

On this shortest day of the year, we’ll be setting our intentions as the light begins to return and raising a glass of Solstice Cider to seal the deal. Open 12-5 if you need to pick up up for your festivities 🔥

Hey friends, Thank you so much to everyone who put an order in during our holiday sale! Thank you for choosing our wine, our family farm, our weird little dream 💚 I love the idea of folks cracking open a bottle of Lavender cider in the middle of winter and catching a whiff of summer so it seems a winter doldrums sale will be in order for late Jan. Keep an eye out!

Nothing glamorous to report around here this week - we’re deep into winemaking and paperwork season. I’ve been coming up for air to take the kids sledding, make a cup of tea, watch Elf, the usual December things. If you have any sad little pumpkins leftover from Thanksgiving, you’re welcome to toss them to the animals! Nothing rotten please, but frozen is okay :)

We’re open Fri/Sat 12-6 and Sun 12-5 so come say hey !

Hey party people! Apparently, posting once a week is even a challenge in this season of life, but whatcanyado? Some fun updates:
🍒We made up small batches of our fan-favorite Lavender Cider & Cherry Cider to help you out with your Christmas gifts. We aren’t really into the whole black friday/sat/sun/mon life but we do love fans of Green Bird so pop over to our shipping site (link in profile - use code HOHOHO) for 10% off everything through Monday! Wine club members currently get 20% off everything, so if you want to join up, message me or send an email and we’ll get you on-board!
❄️All of the snow has made Green Bird extra cute and my kids haven’t broken any bones sledding in the vineyard, so those are 2 wins
🎾A bonus shot of me very-likely losing at pickleball over Thanksgiving, just for fun. Photo cred to

It’s time to start winding down, fam. There aren’t that many folks driving around the county looking for wine in the middle of the week and we’re ready to put the farm to rest for winter! We’re knocking our hours back to Fri/Sat 12-6 Sun 12/5. If you’re bopping around on a weekday and you need some wine/cider, send us an email and we can probably hook you up. We’re composting the vines, finally getting the snowpoles in, shoring up the winter quarters for the animals , and I’m trying to climb the paperwork mountain that I’ve been avoiding all season. We’re also prepping to head back to New Orleans for a week-ish over Thanksgiving and hug our faraway family and send the kids to zoo camp for a few days to take a much-needed breath. I can’t wait to hear what they learn about hissing cockroaches or whatever it is they’ll be up to. Our plan is to stay open weekends all winter, so hopefully we’ll see you soon 💚

Hey y’all! Lots of calls/emails coming in about our hours - we’re still open 7 days/week, 12-5 Sun-Thurs, 12-6 Fri/Sat. We always keep our google hours up-to-date to try to avoid any disappointment if we’re closed :)

We’re busy putting the farm to bed (❄️ in the forecast!!), checking on the wine (nearly all is finished fermenting and is beginning to rest) and enjoying a social media/media break. July gets all the hype, but don’t underestimate November. I’ve realized it’s quietly one of my favorite months. If you saw the sunset and the moon last night, and can smell the coldness in the air, you know what I’m talking about.

I really love how .burger.shop does a weekly update and I think I can commit to that…so I’ll see ya next week unless you pop by the tasting room :)

Wow, what a harvest! We took advantage of the last sunny day for a minute and pulled all the beautiful fruit, which is currently bubbling away, beginning its merry fermentation. We are truly exhausted but our hearts (and tanks!) are full. True to form, not enough photos were taken, but enough for proof of life 🍇
