Day 2 and the open show of the Cornhusker State Highland Classic was another good one. Harper and Sage brought home Champion Intermediate Heifer Calf honors. Everyone is tired and ready to head home tomorrow!

Made it to York last night for a girls weekend of showing! Harper checked back frequently to make sure the trailer was still there 😅 and promised she’d drive someday when she can. We rocked out to her passenger princess tunes and made great time!

Rural pride is strong as many schools in our area celebrate National 4-H Week.

Kenneth knows the true secret to getting his animals ready for the county fair is Umbarger Show Feeds! Thanks for sharing your project Kenneth!

We’re already losing daylight, but the kiddos squeezed in a quick showmanship practice before it got too dark!

Nala is a pro…been there, done that. Rhea leads great, but if there was a prize for getting stopped awkwardly this girl would win hands down 🙈

Reserve Champion Junior Showman 💕 Harper washed and fit all by herself today. She was mad they ‘didn’t even look at the highland’ in the grand drive 😅 but brought home the prize that makes us even more proud and had a blast doing it!

Harper didn’t get enough of showing last weekend so she’s headed to a local jackpot tomorrow with a friend. Sending her off for the first time without either parent 😅 so wish her luck!

We spent the weekend at the NCHCA North Star Highland Show and man did we have a blast. It’s always great catching up with friends and mentors we’ve met along our highland journey.

The Highlights:

🏆Tate won his first ever belt buckle for Reserve Champion Novice Showman
🐮Sage was named Champion Intermediate Heifer Calf in both the Junior and open shows
🐮Nala was named Reserve Champion Senior Heifer in the Junior show
🥈Glory Oaks Farm earned Reserve Champion Breeders Herd
🥈 Our herd bull Circle V High Road was Reserve Champion Get of Sire

We consider this our ‘home show’ and also serve on the show’s planning committee. This year was a new committee, new venue, and had a record number of animals in attendance (94). This amazing committee and numerous volunteers helped to make this show one of the best and we can’t wait for next year!
