I grew up on food stamps and there were times we did not have much food in the house. My parents were pretty great although not perfect. There were some struggles growing up, but I don't know how they did what they did despite being married so young! Experiencing food insecurity as a child has definitely played a part in driving me to learn all I can about homesteading and being self-sufficient. Many small steps and accomplishments can lead to great things.
Today, my 16 year old daughter and I built a potato box. It was her idea. She saw this at Ramseyer Farms and I knew that it was exactly what we needed to do! Thank you, Fynley!
This should help us have a great amount to put away for winter. I want to see how self-sufficient we can be by growing as much of our own food as possible. This is going to be a great year! We got the basics built over the last 4 years but now we are going to focus on really having good systems in place to maximize our yields and efficiency.
