No makeup. No filters. Just dirt on my hands, sunshine on my face, and a heart full of gratitude.

A year ago, this was just a dream. This evening as the sun sets, I’m sitting in the middle of rows planted in memory of my dad, Papa Tom, and my brother, Duke.

Building this little farm hasn’t been easy, but moments like this remind me why we started. Out here, surrounded by growing melons, flowers, and the people I love most, I feel something that’s hard to find these days:

One week at a time. ❤️🍉🌻

This week at Papa Tom’s Melons & Flowers, we installed irrigation, battled pests, mixed fertilizer, watched the first blooms appear, and celebrated the growth happening across the farm.

Some days are exciting. Some days are challenging. But every day brings us one step closer to harvest season and honoring the legacy that inspired this dream.

It started with a dream to honor my dad, Papa Tom. ❤️🍉

In 2018, we lost my dad. He loved growing watermelons, and this spring our family decided to plant a dream in his honor.

From planting seeds and nurturing seedlings in the greenhouse to preparing the field and transplanting thousands of plants, every step has been a family effort. My mom, my husband, my children, and so many others have helped bring this dream to life.

Today, when we walk through the melon patch, we’re reminded that some of the best things in life take time, hard work, faith, and family.

The dream is growing. 🌱🍉❤️

Today was a big day at Papa Tom’s Melons & Flowers.

We planted the last of our watermelon plants and our cantaloupe patch is growing beautifully. What started as tiny seedlings in trays has turned into rows and rows of future summer memories.

Every plant in the ground brings us one step closer to harvest season. We can’t wait to share these old-fashioned melons with our community this summer.
