Hogwash Farm

Hogwash Farm Our animals are raised out in the fresh Vermont air year-round. They graze on organic pastures and the pigs and poultry are fed a locally produced grain.

Hogwash is a small meat farm in the historic Root District of Noriwch, VT. Our animals are raised outside in the fresh Vermont air year-round. They graze on organic pastures where they are able to what they like to do. The pigs root and the poultry get to scratch and forage for bugs while soaking up the sun. We specialize in rare breeds for several reasons. The meat from heritage breeds is far mor

e flavorful than the factory farm meat found in most supermarkets today. These breeds fit our cold, rough terrain and can be outside all year. Also, preserving these rare breeds protects genetic diversity.

Tom’s peeking at the lambs… Come join us tomorrow at the market! Get out of the rain and think spring by stocking up on the earliest veg of the year. Our final indoor market is the day before Easter in two weeks, so if you’re the type to plan ahead I’ll be coming fully stocked with all the holiday roasts I can find in the hopes you’ll take them off my hands! I’ll also have both kids, so expect some market chaos… See you there!

When I got up at 2 am yesterday to watch the eclipse I thought about a lot of cool things as I watched the moon go red and could see more stars than EVER, but I wasn’t remembering full moons and lambing season. The awesome full moon eclipse pulled our fist lambs of the season into the world!! I don’t really want to name them Full moon, Blood moon, or Worm moon 😂, (and we already have an Eclipse from last year), so welcome Luna, Stella, and Umbra! Hopefully keeper triplets to one of the best mamas we have! See you at the market in a few!farmers.market

Life sure looks nice with a fresh coat of paint on it! And today some glorious sun! You can really feel that we’ve just about met the mark of halfway between the longest night and the spring equinox. The sun has strength, the birds are singing, the world is stirring. Farmers are working with the season and are busily planning away - planting seeds, be they literal or figurative, for the coming warm seasons. The actual halfway point between the winter solstice and spring equinox is this Saturday, and you can come visit all your favorite farmers at the Norwich Farmers Market from 10-1 in Tracy hall to celebrate the shift closer to brighter days. Push away the dark by celebrating local food and community! See you Saturday 🥰

I love winter sheep chores. Part of daily life this time of year is fluffing the sheep bales so they have access to plenty of forage all day. I just love seeing the tiny, preserved bits of summer that nourish the sheep all winter - pressed queen Anne’s lace, ferns, clovers, buttercup, golden rod, it goes on… the more diverse the bale, the more the sheep gobble it up! Diversity is key in all diets!

Hi folks, I had a window to sneak to Maine for a quick vacation so I took it! The farm can be SO all consuming in the warm weather, but kids deserve a break, and so do parents/farmers/adults! So when the farm schedule allowed we snuck away… BUT I didn’t get my market shift covered. SO hogwash won’t be at the .farmers.market tomorrow. We RARELY miss a market, but we will miss tomorrow. Sorry for any inconvenience! The farm stand is open and stocked! Have a great weekend - I know we will 🥰🌊☀️ We’ll be back next week!
