Meet the Founder
Daniel Cummings – Daniel started brewing in 2011, at the age of 23, with the original goal of creating a Maple Wheat Ale which would highlight the signature product of Vermont where he grew up. As he experimented further with brewing he discovered Wheat Ales had little complexity and weren’t his style. As such he explored further styles and started
to bring together his Scottish heritage, being part of the Cummings Clan, and his love for Scotch in developing a Scotch barrel aged Scottish Ale. Since this experimental beer was such a success he plans to further explore barrel aging additional beer styles to create rich, complex microbrews. The Beers and Brand
Barrel O’ Courage is a combination of Daniel’s family history and the mission of the brewery. The Barrel coming from the mission to create ‘Barrel’ aged microbrews and courage coming from both the Cummings Family motto and the courage to create complex experimental microbrews. Our signature beer is a rich and malty Scottish Ale fermented for four to five weeks, with the last two weeks of fermentation on oak chips soaked in Auchentoshan 21yr. This imparts a complex flavor and aroma profile that starts with malt and vanilla and finishes with oak, scotch, and caramel. This beer has recently been named Angry Oak.
