Our dream PYO field is now planted thanks to a grant from the Rockingham County Conservation District! Honeyberries, bush cherries, black raspberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, & goji berries.

Perennial plants well suited to our climate and soils. We can’t wait to have our entire growing season full of fresh, nutrient-dense fruit 🤍

What a lovely evening for a farm to table dinner prepared by . It’s nice to be on the guest side for a change so we could experience warm hospitality, delicious food, great company, and a deep history (the farm has been in their family since 1651!). Check out their fun events and theater line-up this summer!

Today’s farm friend, a baby chippy that I pulled out of Euphrates cat’s mouth. He seems uninjured just a little scared. I put him in a nearby tree and hopefully he remembers where his nest is!

It’s a nice day to be a duck splashing around in cool water. 90F today and it’s not even June yet! We are keeping the plants, animals, and ourselves as cool as we can today while looking ahead to a dip back to high 30s Friday morning. What a wild spring!

Wild Dietrich Broccoli Rabe, one of the first harvests of the season. These plants are vigorous, abundant, low maintenance and super tasty! A delicious mild peppery flavor, good raw or sautéed.

I “let” them go to seed last year but I’m glad they are all over the place. In fact I’m going to help them spread around even more this year. Particularly this pretty purple variant that showed up!

We had the absolute pleasure to visit here in Nottingham! Drew and Dallas are SO generous and passionate about rescuing and rehabbing local turtles and helping out some of our most endangered turtle species. Last year, they helped over 400 turtles!

Please be careful on the roads, spring is an especially dangerous time as turtles are waking up and females are looking for places to lay their eggs.

Definitely check out the good work at and consider donating to a wonderful cause! We will be growing a special turtle vegetable share for our shelled friends this summer 🐢
