🚧🐥 New Coop Project Underway! 🦆🪿
We're finally getting started on a brand-new duck and goose coop here at Green Acres Homestead! ❤️

The base is built from six 4-foot pallets, and we'll be covering the floor with thick OSB boards to give everyone a solid, dry place to sleep at night. The walls will be made from about nine pallets, and we're designing a slanted roof to help with rain and snow runoff.

One thing that's really important to us is proper airflow, so we're leaving openings along the top that will be covered with hardware cloth for plenty of ventilation while still keeping predators out. 🦝🚫

It's definitely a budget-friendly build using materials we already have, and we can't wait to see it come together! The ducks and geese may not know it yet, but they're about to get a pretty nice upgrade. 😆

Breaking News From Green Acres: 🪿🐔
I spent all this time raising a goose, and somehow nobody told him he's a goose. 😂
This giant feathered toddler still thinks he's lap-sized and insists on being held like a baby. Meanwhile, I'm over here trying to explain that he's approximately the size of a small dinosaur. 🦖🪿
His response?
"Honk."
Which I'm pretty sure translates to:
"I said pick me up, Mother." 😌
Honestly, I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️

Well, I was out doing some yard work today when I found a new farm helper... and he works for free! 🐍😂

Found this little baby snake and, of course, I had to pick it up. It's been forever since I've held one, and this little guy was the sweetest thing. Didn't strike, didn't bite, didn't even try to give me a warning. Just sat there looking at me like, "Excuse me ma'am, I was trying to supervise the yard work." 🤣

I've always absolutely LOVED snakes, but unfortunately I can't have one as a pet because certain people in my life seem to think having a noodle with a face slithering around the house is a bad idea. 🙄😂

So for now, I'll just keep making random snake friends in the yard and pretending they're part of the Green Acres security team. 🐍💚

Anyone else love snakes, or am I the weird farm lady on the internet? 😂👇

Well we will be welcoming more ducklings in about 28 days. We have our Welsh harlequin sitting on about 8 eggs and my chicken sitting on about 8 more duck eggs..
