HΓΌgelkultur is a horticultural technique where a mound constructed from decaying wood debris and other compostable biomass plant materials is later planted as a raised bed.
Hugelkultur has many advantages over traditional gardening practices. First, it's excellent for areas that have heavy soil compaction or depleted nutrients. As a hill-based bed, it increases the max surface area of the garden bed, allowing you to fit more plants onto the structure.
To create a hugelkultur, pile up branches or brush a foot or two deep in a mound 4 to 8 feet long. Stomp on the pile to compact it a bit. Then toss compostable materialsβ€”grass clippings, sod, straw into the pile. Sprinkle some compost on the mound, and top with an inch or so of soil.
This bed is unfinished and is waiting for a organic compost that is underway and will also get organic vermicompost and other Natural Farming/JADAM inputs.

Nature provides everything you need around you- Master Cho, CGNF

We take that to heart. We gather and source materials to make most of our inputs, local to our area. This is palm from some chip drops we had delivered that I turned into using the "tinman" method. It burned fairly clean and I am satisfied with the way it came out. This will get "charged" many ways and utilized in our soil, compost and vermicompost.
